AT-4050, ADK Hamburg, or MXL v67?

check the rode ntk out; great vocal mic for the price. can't go wrong with the 4050 though if you can afford it, works well on guitar cabs as well

AKG vs Shure kick drum mics

BTW; the AKG 112 is such a dated industry standard. They may be better than the 'toy' kick drum mics but aside from that they are terrible; save your money until you can afford either of the Shure's or at least get a Sen 602 instead of the AKG. You have to put so much work into EQ'ing a 112...

AKG vs Shure kick drum mics

IMHO you can't get much better than a Shure beta 52 & 91 combined; I use this setup religiously and you can't fail to get an awsome kick sound on record. The 91 inside for the click & attack, the 52 outside the drum for the 'meat'. Not the cheapest method having to spend that much but def...

Please point me in the right direction

Yeah warble; looks like your right on the pre's for the 192. How about the MOTU 896 instead? I could link this or as cawhite12 said a RME unit with ADAT to say a Focusrite Octopre to achieve the desired in's; are there any PC related confilcts I should be aware of linking two different...

Please point me in the right direction

Just been checking out the MOTU HD192; would that be a decent way to go? 12 xlr ins, firewire audio interface, what are the preamps like?

Please point me in the right direction

Hey, I'm looking for a little guidance. I was looking at buying a new Korg D series or Roland VS DAW to upgrade from my old D1600 setup. I mix my music in Cubase SX3 but have always tried to stay away from recording to computer for mobility & latency issues etc. Apart from maybe the VS2480...

To Mod or not to Mod

So I could get a 24 fret neck for my tele but I'm gonna have to move the neck pickup down a little; buy a new scratchplate/pickguard etc. I need a new neck anyway, what do you reckon-should I go for it. I know I can do it, it's getting round to having the time; I know that in 6 months I'll...

    TC Electronics Gmajor

Yes; I have a G major and use it in the effects loop with my POD pro. I also use a Behringer 10101 floorboard that controls the two together. There isn't anything in my opinion better than this unit for the price. Reading the reviews in full on harmony will provide you with all the...

Why are good rythym players so rare?

If anyone asks me about great Rhythm guitarists the first name I always give is Pete Townsend; as simple as that; enough said.

I don't like the POD Pro!

I have a POD pro but I don't use the effects at all; I use a TC Electronics G major in the effects loop of the POD pro. I have a floorboard set up to change the two together.

Quick question about the Spirit M12

I've had my M12 a couple of months now, I use it almost every day and I don't know how I went without one for so long. Good choice.

Question for folks with Korg D16/D1600 and external pre's:

I have a D16 and I bought a Soundcraft M12 mixer for it's ghost pre-amps and EQ. It only cost me £430 and has a digital out. Now I have the choice of going into the D16 with the trims on minimum or to the digital in. The D16's (I'm on the same 3.01 version and 20GB hard drive by teh way)...

    eq question

I got my Soundcraft M12 about a month ago for the pre's and EQ. I got a great deal on it; £430 (about $650).

    AT4033 question

Yeah, I've sort of given up with the x/y position with these two. I still use the NTK and NT1 though. Yes I was turning the NTK upsidedown to accomodate the position better. Now I'm using either one over the shoulder or at the bridge and the other around the 12th. Thanks, Krystof.
