If you're concerned about breathing in the particles, you could try spraying the open backs with spray starch. or just cover them.

Make sure what you're sampling sounds good, clean first off. It's east to dirty up something but difficult to polish a shitty sound. I always dig for drums off 45's because they sound bigger and fuller due to the larger grooves. You don't have to, but that's just me. If you don't know much...

I'm a freak about good drum sounds. The ones your using sound like factory sounds off of a drum machine or fruity or whatever. Just my opinion, I think if you dig and fine tune your drums, it'll add much more character to your beat. Layer, eq, and compress. Don't over do it though.
