Reaper has run every VST plugin in I have thrown at it. If I gave you two identical tracks, one rendered with with stock Reaper plugins, the other with snootier second party plugins, could you identify which is which?

If you have the plugin loaded on the track, it will sound but not "print" on the recording until you render it that way. Simply have it on while tracking, and turn it off prior to rendering.

What is your application? A DAW is a DAW, what makes one better than another is how it adapts to -your- workflow. I love and swear by Reaper, but you can learn the bare bones basics fairly quick on Audacity, which is free.
