    Re-amping bass without an amp

Cheers Dave - I found it yesterday by going to "full site" rather than the cut down mobile version :)

    Re-amping bass without an amp

:) Maybe the desktop version will give me the option. There wasn’t an option to attach files using the phone web browser

    Re-amping bass without an amp

Well, the keyboard amp has a larger speaker to move more air for better low end response...a little more "fit for purpose" than a headphone speaker :)

    Re-amping bass without an amp

Howdy Keith. I use Logic V9 - I played around with the Bass amp plugins and Waves RBass and got much better mix results but the "re-amping" experiment was just that - an experiment to see whether, in a pinch, headphones could serve as a speaker for re-amping. No idea what the bass/amp...

    Re-amping bass without an amp

Hi all For those of you who like to experiment with your recordings, give this a whirl.... Was fooling around with a really crappy sounding live performance DI bass recording & wondering how I could re-amp it at home to make it sound fuller (I don’t own a bass amp) It needed to be compressed...

    How to record a band

Howdy. You could track instruments separately - drums by themselves first (played to a click with scratch guitar and vox so the drummer knows where he/she is in the song) then build up each instrument as you go. That way you only really need an interface with 6-8 inputs. ...oh yeah - what...

Audio Interface for a Powermac G5?

I have a Delta1010 and was using it happily for many years. Unfortunately they are not compatible with Intel Macs so when I upgraded my computer I also bought into MOTU - fantastic gear. Get yourself an interface with the PCI-e board and you can expand your Ins/Outs as you need to in the future...

Hooking up this gear together (A mixer and a 4track)

A jack lead from the left channel out of the mackie to the portastudio's input should work. Just watch the levels going into the tape deck. Yes, you can saturate tape a little for a nice gritty sound, but if it is too distorted it will just sound atrocious. Might as well have all channels in...

    Weird Aux problem

LOL! I forgot to give an update - it was a momentary glitch with Logic. When I loaded the same session back up again with the same Aux sends in place it worked perfectly.

    Weird Aux problem

Hi Logicians Found a very strange bug with Logic 9 when working with splitting out a vocal into two aux channels. 1. Source vocal channel, has two aux sends inserted as pre fader (no dry signal going directly out of channel) going to two mono aux busses (Aux1 and Aux2) at full level. 2. Aux1...

When to place vocal levels for pro sound (or does it matter?)

I guess that's where the extra control comes in that makes a mix more professional - the vocalist using correct vocal techniques and knowing how to create dynamic expression in their performance. Just ran up a mix last night as an experiment where I set the vocals at a level that worked well...

When to place vocal levels for pro sound (or does it matter?)

    >. There is no way to predetermine a vocal level for any song. The song itself determines that man. Sure you already know this. >. Of course! That's a no brainer. In the course of pulling a mix together you'd get the vocal sitting at a selected 'good' relative level compared to instruments. But...

When to place vocal levels for pro sound (or does it matter?)

Hmmm.... I think that the answer is "it doesn't matter as long as it works for the song". I just took a listen to Adele's "Rolling in the deep" and the lead vocal gets noticeably louder as the song progresses. This might just be a production decision to have this song ramp up during the course...

When to place vocal levels for pro sound (or does it matter?)

Hi everyone I have a technical mix-approach question. (Apologies if this has been covered - I couldn't find it doing a quick forum search) From your experience with setting the overall level for lead vocals (ignoring small fader-bumps for words or small lines of the song) do you have the...
