    Question for Light

Light, I am thinking of replacing the narrow frets on a maple fretboard tele with jumbos but have never refretted a one piece maple. I have heard that you should heat the frets with a soldering iron till the laquer becomes plastic before pulling the fret. I this a good idea? And if I do this...

    Fender Mini amps

Just been trolling through ebay and there were some Fender Mini Amps, 1 watt, 9v battery. Anyone heard them? They are not very expensive. Comments anyone?

Help, any theory what this is?

My Fender "The Twin" has developed a fairly loud noise, the nearest I can describe it is like roaring surf or waves crashing on a reef. I live 2000 km from the nearest repair outfit and have a gig on next Saturday. Any ideas? I will get it overhauled but getting it there is a drama in itself...

    Use for old pedals

I had a couple of old pedals that were stuffed so I removed the guts and put in an extra out, resoldered them and two cheap effective splitter boxes.

    EBay

How much commission does ebay charge on a sale? I have a couple of pickups I am thinking of listing.

    Practice

Just had a killer practice with my band, I'm now winding down, waste of time going to bed as the beats still pounding away. We lost our other guitar player last week, we're not going to bother replacing him, really tight sound with guitar, bass, drums.

    Building a PA Cabinet

I am about to build a PA cabinet, I was just going to copy one of my existing cabs but have got some information on cabinet design that does not give actual dimensions only total volume. Do I assume right that within reason as long as it measures up in volume (cubic feet or litres) the size used...

    Equipment overkill

Had a gig on Thursday at a pub, I carted in 3 guitar amps (2 Twins, 1 NZ made 70 watt) for me, 2 Strats, a PA with 2 cabs and 2 foldbacks. 2 stands, pedal board, 3 large toolbags and one plastic box of mics. assorted leads, power leads, multiple plug boxes and two mic stands, and that was my own...

    Quiute surprised but happy

We had a practice tonight and I have been getting sick of toting my Twin after working all day for practice. So tonight I'm feeling lazy so I thought what the hell I'll try my Pod through the PA. Bugger me! it worked OK. Not perfect but for a practice just right. Wouldn't gig with it but it did...

    Baritone guitars

I am toying with the idea of putting a baritone neck in one of my strats. Has anyone got or used a baritone? I like the idea of a really low end solo in some numbers but am wondering as to how limiting they are as an alternative guitar? Clive

    Oower Tracks Pro Audio

I already asked this in another part of the forum but I think it should have been here - I want to transpose a couple of backing tracks for my daughter, they will be kareoke tracks, can it be done with Power Tracks?

    Power Tracks Pro Audio

Guys, I have the above program and want to know if I can change a backing track my daughter has. Without going thru endless hassle, if I copy the disc onto my program can I transpose the keys? I am pretty certain the whole thing was done midi. Clive

    Amp Power vs Speaker

I have a solid state amp that is 70 watts. It is used mainly for keyboards and I decided to put in a new speaker that could handle the lower end. I was advised that a Eminence 200 watt spkr would handle all I could throw at it and it does. However it seems to lack volume, I can remember it being...

    Cutting feedback

Guys, My band has a slight problem, we have a hall available to practice in but it has dreadful acoustics and the last time we had feedback from hell. I was thinking if we chucked a couple of folded blankets over the PA cabs would it work in cutting feedback? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
