I've been pretty happy with the Oktava mk012 x2 drum over head setup ....with an ATM pro 25 this has been working pretty good with the Fletcher 3 mic technique....
I've noticed though that the toms sound pretty thin.....I'm assuming its because I'm trying to use SDC's when LDC's would work...
I usually unplug and pack away my Oktava mk02's after each session, but I was wondering if it's harmful to just leave them out ....it seems like these mics are kind of frail and I think I'm doing more damage by plugging/unplugging them every night....
plus, the threading seems kind of fragile...
Just picked up two Oktava Mk012's at Banjo Mart for the rock bottom $99/pair..comes with -10 DB rolloff pad
my plan was to go with the Fletcher 3mic setup, one OH 2 1/2 stick lengths above the snare and the other 2 1/2 stick lengths from snare but over the drummers right shoulder....drumming...
Looking for a way to get as close as possible to the action and feel of a real snare without the noise for silent or close to silent pratice....
