Ah..Yeah I'm gonna hafta read that again when I'm not hung over. My head hurts. But hey thanks guys this is just the info I've been looking for. I don't have too many friends that would have any clue what I was talking about if I asked about sample rates, and aliasing you guys are a great...
So wouldn't this phenomenon require a sample rate about ten times higher in order to truly acurately reproduce the high frequency information up to 20khz? because you could get this same result with a signal well below the sample rate, at any frequency really.
Well I guess the real question is can digital audio capture high frequency signals that are out of phase less than 180 degrees with the sample clock? I understand that you get a sample 44100 times a second but what if you have a signal that peaks between those samples would it just be recorded...
Ok here's my question. Say you have two seperate tones at 20khz but they are 90 degrees out of phase with each other wouldn't you need a 40khz sampling rate to capture both of them? and wouldn't both of them be audible (assuming you could hear 20khz) and likewise if you had 5 such tones...
I'm building a recording studio in my basement. I myself am not a musician but I have many friends who are and I like to sing. I would like to get a full set of drums for the studio and by budget is about $1000. I'd like to take some lessons and learn the drums myself too. Anyway I know this...

Ok let's say I've got $1500 and I want to get the best pair of vocal mics, and a preamp for them I can for my money. What would you recommend? I would be using them for mostly rock with a little bit of jazz standards thrown in for fun. They would need to be versital for both Male and female...
I think I'm gonna go with the Motu interface and look for a mixer on ebay. I should be able to get something nice for about $300 including shipping. What brands are good?
