I know some guy"s over on the westside of Phx who use a AT 4040 going through a DBX 386 doing all Dirty South style HipHop, there New Orlleans. It sounds really good, and clean. They are using Sonar in the box set-up.
I had that happen on a my old set of alesis, the soft dome was pushed in. I called the repair shop and thy said to try a vaccum cleaner attchment to suck it back out? it worked and no prob since then???
Drive1. for Apps. 2.Soft synths and samples. 3. pT session files. 4. for back-up, and I burn DVD of all session files daily. I lost a drive once but never again, long time ago???
I have a 386, but I don't have the problems that you are having. I would say take it back or if you can repair it yourself. It's not a bad pre, but not great either.
clevodrummer, I was just thinking of doing the samething of hookig mine up on the tail end of a mix to see what it can do to a overall mix as well. It is a clear compressor it does hanle peaks very well. So in all I give it thumps up too!

Well I got mine back in 1995 when they first came out, it has been in the shop ywo times, both times being for the power supply. The first time I had the power supply moded, the second time was for a blown switch. I don't know I must have got one of the better one's?
