Didn't expect wireless to solve this

Funny thing
Overall my signal chain is pretty clean.
But sometimes there is a very annoying hum/interference that i can't locate except suspect the Airco or washer/dryer.

To experiment i bought a wireless set and to my surprise the setup is a lot less noisy. I can understand grounding issues with wireless but didn't expect it also to have a positive effect on the other interference. I love older guitars so i guess I'm going to play wireless all the time now

Anyone else have experiences like this ?

I've never tried a wireless, but on my pedal board I switched from a plug in power supply to a battery powered one. It lowered the noise.

Is it possible that the cable you were using isn't well shielded? I have several different cables downstairs ranging from a cheap no name to Mogami. Perhaps I should do a comparison.

Tried different cables.
Whole set is on one group and over 2 power conditioners

Already solved some issues with 2 line isolators and overal the noise floor is almost non existent. Even with gain I hardly use a gate.

We live on an industrial area and sometimes there is an interference i can't really pin point. It seems with wireless it's gone. At least for a large part.

Just surprised me. I thought it would help with some grounding issues with some old guitars but was surprised it actually also helped with other problems

Well known fact indeed and very annoying.
Solved that in my setup with placement and running the laptop on a separate dock which isolated the USB. Straight on power was introducing a high pitched sound. I changed to a OWC dock and that problem went away. In all honesty that dissapointed me of the MacBook pro it's designed for creators and i can't run on the battery all the time

As mentioned we live in an industrial area and it's certain moments. Sometimes i think it's the ac or dryer but it also happens when they are off. It's maybe once every 2 days but when it's going on you can forget about recording

Wireless link kit has improved massively in the last 20 years or so. For the ultimate in such systems treat yourself to the current copy of Sound on Sound in which there is a review of the fabulous Sound Devices wireless gear range.

I still have an 30 year old UHF system.
Two antennas and belt pack. It was ok

I now bought the JW06 joyo/lekato
A 5.8ghz system. Super small, box to charge and i can't say it sounds worse or different. Maybe if you record and compare. But for me this means no more cable

And it was very affordable for 99,00

Misaligned companders often make wireless sound ‘better’. For many years i ran a 6 way rack of Trantec receivers, but used Sennheiser transmitters. This, everyone says, is bad, and causes all sorts of RF issues to do with bandwidth and deviation, but I did it because it made them sound better. Eventual tests showed it was the compression on the way out and expansion on the way in that did it. Maybe this is what is happening to your system? In fairness, with the same model gear it shouldn't’ happen, but maybe its in the design?

I have no issues at all with cable that's the thing.
Some old single coils have grounding issues but nothing bad.

Once every few days we have an interference even on my Jems that is a combination of high and low hums and noise. It's terrible.

You can play but recording is out.
With the wireless this also seems to be solved.

I don't think it's something in my set seeing it's i guess 95% of the time nice and clean. Everything else is the same.

I haven’t experienced it - but wireless is a easy fix for buzz and grounding issues - maybe you need to Iso your power to your room - my whole studio is isolated and I have zero noise.

95% of the time i have no issues.
It's sometimes out of nowhere. Probably a company in our area. I'm using line isolators, one group and power conditioners. does make it very quiet overall
