Com'on man... lol
A home recording site where folk don't want to show off their basses?
I don't buy it!
Besides maybe two, I'm done buying guitars that will take me a while to find/afford. I sold a bunch of amps and have everything I want.
Somehow, I fell into buying basses, so I'll play.
I found this one so cheap that I couldn't not buy it at the Fall Philadelphia guitar show two years ago. I was looking for a Byrdland but the only one there was more than I wanted to pay. I bought this one on the last day.
It was filthy - I mean filthy. The guy I bought it from had gotten it in trade along with some other things. It's never been broken. IIRC it's a 1964. I wish it was cherry, but beggers can't be choosers!
The map I bought for $600 and I use for most of my bass. Sometimes into a JMI 1x18 old Greenback!
This crazy bass I found in an antique store in Rhode Island. It was $179 with a hard case! Someone must have had an SG Bass and broke it because the tuners, bridge, knobs, pickup, and pots are all Gibson but the neck and body are home made. Some day I'll find a husk and swap it back but it is pretty cool. I keep round strings on it:
I found this one at a guitar center. I went in and it was $1400. Once or twice a year I would go back and eventually, it was $899. It's really fun to play and with flats sounds very cool! It's my fav bass to play!
When I bought it they brought the OHSC out and it even had the case candy!
I have these two. The one on the left I found in a pawn shop for $250 because it didn't work. There was a cold solder joint on a pickup. For that price I figured even if I needed to change it the deal was there. It's MIM. I don't use it much anymore.
The Bass VI I bought new for $799 when they were reissued a few years back. I wish the pickups were better, but it is ok for the money and does the job.
Last Christmas I bought a Squier 51 style P-Bass on Amazon for $299. They only had the white. I bought a new pickup for it from Duncan. It hung on my wall for about a year and I plugged it direct in the other day and it's crazy good! I wish I didn't buy that pickup because it doesn't need to be changed.
I don't have a photo of it but they still make them. It's like this one. For $1000 it would be a great bass. I can't believe how good it sounds. Maybe it's the API and the 560 but what a great sound!
