Picked up yet another one.
I was looking for a Les Paul Jr or Melody Maker. Found this on Goodwill for 116$. I think a set of P90 dog ears is just what this needs.
Got some nice belt rash on the back, too 8-)
Epi Special .webp

Those are nice looking, I like the white and blue models. Is the neck any good?

I don't know yet. I can fix a neck. It looks decent from the pics. If not, it's firewood.
Dog ear ear p90s wont work it’s routed for humbuckers
I was wondering about that. I need to have the guitar in hand to make measurements. I put a set of SD Phat Cat P90s in my Epi LP and they fit like a glove. I do know that the routing may be different. But I really wanted to drop REAL P90s in. Dog ears or soap bars, for 116$, I can make it fit. I have a boatload of chisels and hammers :ROFLMAO:
Wish me luck !

Humbucker cavity is approx 1 and 5/8ths wide. P90 is 1and 7/16ths wide.
So you’ll have a gap.

To the OP @CarlWonderful who wanted to put P90s into his old Harmony... My humble apologies. I feel your passion

Haha. And once again someone is raining on the parade

Is it possible that the 3/16" gap can be filled in with a wood filler?

A gap is good! No gap is bad.
Besides, I'm going to use dog ears. I'll use a bigger screw.

I saw the picture. That pup is a soap bar. I'm going to use a dog ear. That also looks like a Les Paul. Mine is not.
Nonetheless, I will certainly check dimensions before I dive in. I'm all for a good fit!

I put a set of SD Phat Cat Noiseless P90s into my Epi Les Paul. I'm very impressed with them, honestly. I was using a friends Laney with the gain high, and it was just an amazing sound.

I may be to fixated on the "P90 mystique". I have an affinity for Seymour Duncan. I have Pearly Gates in an SG style, Custom Customs in a 335 style, Phat Cats in the LP. All my Strats have some combination of SSH1, 3, and 5s. I have Quarter Pounders in something (can't remember what).

I may just wait for the new guy to get here, and see what it sounds like. I'm just a tinkerer at heart. Not comfy if there's not something on my bench.

Hello there. Sorry, I'm new to using these forums.
Little confused...Did you tag me in this to bring this post to my attention?

Very Cool! Years ago I worked in a store that had a white one of those and there was something about it that I loved. This would have been about 1998ish? Cool guitar!
