If people spent 1/2 the time actually recording that they do searching for different ways to spend money in the hopes that there's a new/old/modded whatever that will make them sound better, they'd probably be better at recording and have more money in their pocket...
this made me laugh....of course its true, one could say that about bars and beer too...
but what if the gear schlopping is part of the fun than the recording? Trying gear, buying selling, learning about it...hell I even like reading the history of some of this stuff.
microphones like they say can sound so different just moving them a few inches, its like if it sounds bassy...pull it away, if it sounds thin bring it in.
searching for the holy grail mic that can sound great no matter what room and what distance continues ...and is encouraged by marketing!
