i think i have it dont know due to symptoms. but ever since i bought my first monitors, they bother my ears. has anybody heard of this issue with
monitors? doesnt happen when i use regular speakers

You'd know if you had tinnitus.
If you hear sound when there's no sound...that'll be it.

Fatigue is a very real thing. Could that be what you're dealing with?
The recommendations for work/breaks/work are pretty steep. Something like 20 minutes on for 10 off? I don't know.

If your ears are ringing after a session then it passes, your monitors are way too loud.

yeap i hear buzzing when theres no sound since i was a teen.

i dont use the speakers that much. but ever since i bought them they bother my ears even at low volume. i use to use logitech
speakers and never happened.

Tinnitus is like having crickets in your yard all the time, sometimes pronounced high ringing - but not buzzing. Go see an ear-nose & throat specialist.

I am clinically, registered deaf. I CAN hear pretty well but not much past 2kHz and this makes understanding some voices very difficult. But I count myself VERY lucky that I have never suffered from tinnitus as I understand it has led some people to attempt suicide?

I am with Mr S, the speakers could be too loud or, they could be faulty. A couple scenarios suggest themselves..
1) The HF amplifier is distorting and the tweeter putting out high levels of harmonics. This is not a 'natural' sound and will lead to rapid fatigue.
2) The crossover has had a wrong component stuffed and the HF level is too high (or might not be rolling off early enough) Do not dismiss this idea! ***t'appen in production and the MOST amazing things escape QC!

Sounds like your new monitors are producing sounds that your Logitecs never did. That's probably normal. Do you experience the same annoyance in other situations such as loud places.......large groups of people..........other types of speakers? If so you may have certain frequency ranges (low or high) that affect parts of your ear that are damaged or degrading or failing. Depending on your age that could be somewhat normal as well. An ear nose and throat specialist can give you a test and tell you a lot about your problem.

Tinnitus is pretty recognizable by the high-pitched ring/whistle/whatever that is just always there. A few years of closing bars standing in front of an amp, stupidly loud R&R concerts and summer jobs in pre-OSHA (or perhaps just dodgy) factories and there goes at least part of your hearing. No cure, but there are some things (noises and classes of medication) to avoid. The treatment, if it really bothers you, is to take a mild sedative so you don't care as much, apparently!

I'm lucky in that I took a turn and did very little loud music for almost 30 years - a couple "big band" and community orchestra trumpet sections were probably the worst, or sitting in front of percussion while in the back row of 2nd fiddles once or twice. (And I still avoid it though some electric jams push it more than healthy, but hey, the clock's ticking - gotta pick your poison.)

My semi-retired friends who played out even if just a couple times/month are pretty hard to have a conversation with these days. What? Huh? Are you talking to me???

I'd get a good hearing exam to find out where you are, i.e., a "baseline" and get a copy of the results and keep them. Check back in 5 or ten years.

And turn those monitors down.

The tweeter makes a hiss noise or white noise is that normal? Even when is disconected.

Yeah there could be a problem with componets. Ill take it to guitar center and see if other speaker have the same problems.

Maybe a dumb question - are you using balanced (TRS - look like stereo plugs, not instrument TS) cables?

still makes the noise when disconected. could that be hurting my ear when stuff if being played?

no im using rca to trs because my interface doesnt have balanced output.

I don't think the little bit of noise should be a problem, because it's not likely to get louder with any signal, i.e., it will become masked somewhat, but not hearing it myself I can't say. It shouldn't be there, though. Check input sensitivity, level, HF setting, etc.

no never notice even working with machinery and also if i put my stereo speakers loud im fine. the monitors bother specially my right ear like if theres a bug walking inside lol

im 26, will earplugs for musicians work?

i think the settings are fine and i have the sensitivity on -10

ill take them to GC and see if they have a problem.

Keep the volume on speakers and phones down. Always wear earplugs in loud places. Hearing is precious.

^ That, I am sure is your answer Willy. A constant hiss is going to be very fatiguing. This is something I have in the past tried to get reviewers to pay more attention to, called 'Self Noise'. Very rarely does a monitor manufacturer give a figure, Xdb SPL at (say) 1mtr for the noise output of an active speaker and they ALL must produce some.

IMO even the cheapest active monitors should produce NO audible noise at the normal listening position, say around 1.5mtrs from each speaker? Ok, perhaps we can allow very low budget units IN AN VERY QUIET ROOM a tiny hiss at LP but I am loathe to even allow that, after all we have had the technology to make power amps with better than -100dB noise levels ref full power for decades.

Those monitors are faulty or, if other samples are the same, technically shit.

Thanks for the response Dave!

I returned the monitors and the employee at GC said that those monitors make a small hiss where the tweeter is at and that is normal. So i just got my money back and went back to use regular speakers and my ears feel better! With the money back i bought some earplugs so i can use my amp without demaging my ears. I wish i could use them with monitors but its not the same thing.

I also read on a forum( forgot the name because been on google all day) that some people, but not all, might be sensitive to monitors! Sucks im one of them lol

Is there any monitors in the world that will not bother my ears? Im still researching but cant find anything.
