Can't listen at the moment, but I'll get to 'em later this evening....

More great news, my fuckin' desktop finally died last night after 6+ years....So, I'm gonna have to buy a fuckin' computer now....It just keeps gettin' better....I'm not sure but I think the power supply took a shit, it'd been acting up for a little while, but now it won't power up/turn on...I could probably replace the power supply, but I'm not 100% sure that's the problem, & don't wanna throw a bunch of $$$ at it, then it still not work, so most likely I'll be buying a new tower...

The thing that really worries me is the 2nd hdd has about 6 years worth of songs/recordings/etc on it. I do have most of it backed up to an external hdd, but not all...

Wish me luck....

That would be a massive pain in the dick mate. Hope the hard drives are ok and the projects are all saveable even if you do need a new PC. what about all your amplitube presets, reaper plugins and presets?

I'm quite lucky in a way. Coz I work on a different computer during weekdays to the weekend I am, by default, backing up the stuff that I'm working on that week while always having everything else stored in two places. Even though it does feel like a huge inconvenience while I'm doing it.

LOL. No you won't.

Both sound great though. You should do a piece with one of them chugging out some rhythm while the other plays a bit of lead for a few bars then swap them over.
Hey that's a good idea....if only I had the chops to do something like that. :laughings:

That sucks balls. But hey, a power supply is cheap. I got one last year for my old computer for like $15.

Chug on high e power chord with the bottom e string open, g, a and d with one guitar and pentatonic noodle on the 12th feet with the other. If you want to change it up stick a b or c power chord bit in there.

Thanks guys, I'm not 100% sure it's the power supply, but it might be. I think the hdd's are ok (or I hope anyway), I didn't think it'd happen when it did, but here I am...It's been a damn good one though, I've put it through the ringers for over 6 years now...

The big things that I dread (other than the cost...) are installing all the shit onto a new machine (drum vsti's, daw, etc), & getting used to a Windows 10 OS. I may be able to find a W7, & I'd like to stay with that, but I may just go ahead with W10...Still looking at some options here...

I can listen through 'phones with this shitty little laptop, but can't record anything. I tried that back in the winter, & it just won't handle it...

Well, I started something like that, then it morphed into this. :laughings:

Les Paul Custom - the Ace part
Les Paul Traditional - the Paul part
Marshall Plexi 1959
Presence - 3
Bass - 6
Mid - 4
Treb - 5
Vol 1 - 2
Vol 2 - 3
High input 1 - Channels jumped
Same cab and mics as before
No EQ or FX on guitars

Slutter

Ok got to listen to all the clips (AFAIK)....

Bill: Good tones, not overly bright but still enough clarity to cut through the mix...Pretty nice!!!

Greg: I liked both, seems the Custom is just a little darker, but not much. In a mix I probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference...In the little mix you did to be honest I couldn't have told the difference unless you told what was what...Congrats dude, seems like you've got a great guitar there & it'll probably only go up in value....

Spent the biggest part of the day looking at computer specs, & I think I've just about figured out what route I'm gonna take. I'm just gonna get another pc & (hopefully) be done with it. I could probably get by with replacing the power supply, but I'm not 100% sure that would fix it, & I don't wanna go throwing $$$ into it, since it is 6 years old, other things may start screwing up & I don't really wanna take a chance on it...

Strutter - a fine example of simple is best. Sounds great Greg though you bass is toppier than Gene's.
the LP shoot out - I prefer the Goldtop but wow they are close. The gold top sounded brasher to me - I think.

Thanks fellas. If I get time today I'll do one more the way JDOD mentioned with more variety. I gotta go to the doctor today. I fucked up my right hand back in january working on a truck. Every time it gets feeling better, I bang it on something and fuck it all up again. Every time. Without fail. It's feeling better right now, so I'm due to bang it on something. I think there must be a hairline crack or something in the hand part of the pinky bone. It doesn't bother me drumming or guitaring, but simple things like grabbing something and carrying it sometimes sends shooting pain through my hand. Fuck.

Probably a metacarple - I've bust them loads of times boxing (I RAMI has too) they don't seem to restrict you very often but fuck me they can be painful.

I think that's what it is. The fifth metacarpal. But it also kind of feels like it's in the joint where my pinky starts. That last fist knuckle. If I make a fist or push my pinky down with my other hand it hurts like a motherfucker. I hurt it by trying to remove a rusted starter bolt on my fishing truck. That thing was tight, and I pulled on it with everything I got. Decades of turning wrenches has given me pretty good grip and forearm strength and a high threshold for pain, so stuck bolts are no match for me, and I gorilla'd that bitch loose. It didn't hurt at the time, but right afterwards my hand was screaming. I wonder if I tore something or stress cracked it or something.

Goddamnit and there it is. I just banged it on a fucking door knob walking to the kitchen..

welcome to getting older!

You think that's something? All you gotta do is keep sticking around ...... lol.

I won't bore with with my litany of pain!

:laughings:

Hang in there Greg, hopefully nothing serious there dude...

I backed out of buying a new computer, I'm gonna go the cheap route & replace the power supply. I hope it didn't take anything else out with it when it went, I'll find out Friday...

Just curious Greg, when your power supply took it's shit, did it act up or do anything weird beforehand??? I've been getting little graphic glitches using Reaper for a while, so I'm guessing the power supply was on it's way out, not getting enough voltage/power/whatever to the different components, right???

Well, nothings broken. Had an XRay. I guess it's just a sprain I keep re-aggravating. Doc said to stop doing all the things that hurt it - which is silly since nothing I do actually hurts it. It's the things I don't mean to do that hurts it. :laughings:

No, nothing weird signaled a power supply failure. It just wouldn't turn on one day. Mine had this little light that would blink on the back of the computer. Steady light = good. If it was blinking, the power supply was malfunctioning. Get this shit...I'd heat it with a hairdryer and bam, the light would turn on steady and the computer would start. Lol. I got tired of doing that stupid shit so I forked over the 15 bucks for a new power supply.

Good news, man. I love when doctors say stupid shit. "Doc, it hurts when I do this". "Don't do that".

I did something weird to my hand last week, and it hurts when I hold the neck of my guitar in certain positions. It's almost like I sprained my hand right in the middle of my palm or something. Weirdest thing and I don't know when it happened. It's not my tugging hand, so I can keep doing that, which is all that really matters. :D

Clean-ish tones, anyone?

This is something I started working on last night, so really just a few hours ago. I have an idea where I'm going with it, but it's really just an embryo right now. It's going to rely a lot on the drum beat, so this robotic, programmed thing is close to the beat I want, but it has no feel. This sounds nowhere near what I hear in my head. But I know it will once I get the arrangement together.

I'm mainly concerned with the tones, they're pretty much all clean.

The riff that starts the song and is panned in the middle is my Gibson SG Neck Pick-up.
Guitar on the left is Gibson SG Bridge pick-up.
Guitar on the right is Epiphone SG Neck pick-up.

Off to a good start?

Wow that's quirky. Almost has a "island feel" to it....like latin or Caribbean. I'd say the tones are good. I think you could go even cleaner if you wanted to. I'm really amazed at how tight it is. All those picks and licks are fucking locked in.

Ok cool, the tones are my main concern right now. I want to start with good sounds. I know I can change them as I go along, but I was concerned that playing a clean sound with a bridge pick-up might sound too thin, for example. That's something I can't go back and change later. Once it's recorded with a bridge pick-up, I'd have to totally re-track if it didn't work.

It is quirky right now, but you should hear the tune in my head, it's almost nothing like what we're hearing now. Right now, it just sounds like a collection of choppy parts. It's actually going to be more like a Prince thing than an Island thing once it's done.

As far as playing tight, this is actually the type of stuff I'm comfortable playing because it's like drumming almost.

Thanx man. This is a loooong way from being where it will end up.

Oh yeah, every track has it's own pedal type compressor on it, I forgot to mention that. That probably helps all the pick clicks stand out and shit.
