I have a Steelseries 3H v2 headset, my laptop doesn't have a mic jack though. It came with a double female to male jack that goes into a headphone jack but doesn't pick up my voice. In playback and recording devices, it doesn't recognize any microphone other than the integrated one on my PC. I don't know what to do at this point, it didn't come with any installation disk or instructions telling me I need to do anything special..:confused::confused:

A mic won't work without a mic jack on your laptop. A mic plugged into a headphone jack will just act like another speaker and output sound, quietly.

What model laptop? If we know this, we might be able to find something to help.

It is a dell Inspiron 15R, i'm not sure how to check if my jack is a dual jack or not but i assume not if it's not working. And that image is of the adapter im using. If my laptop doesn't support it, what are my options, hopefully i don't have to spend MORE money

this is from the Dell specs:

Audio and Speakers
Stereo speakers with Waves MaxxAudio® 4 processing
Built-in digital microphone

you may try a USB headset.

Yeah its Waves MaxxAudio, if I have a combo jack then why is my headset not picking up the mic when i plug in the adapter?

Open up the software and check the mic settings.

You may have the plug-in power switched off.

Or - the sound card is not correctly selected on your DAW program.
