I'm planning on adding an Avantone mixcube for referencing in mono. I'm guessing it doesn't need to be placed in the center since it's mono, right?
Thanks

I use the littlepapercone which is a discontinued auratone clone, it doesn't need to be exactly centre but I have found it really helps, as long as your DAW or interface supports true mono then it's fine you can put it anywhere.

Just turn in your seat until you are facing it - but note that unsymmetrical (in relation to the speaker) trapping in your room could affect the overall sound.

Strikes me that if you wanted to A/B between the phantom mono image and true mono it should be dead centre?

Dave.

"Phantom mono" Dave? That's a new one on me!

"Two great nations ......." Mike? It is what we call the illusion of the centre image when formed by identical signals in the stereo pair of speakers.

Dave.
