EGG Sellant!
Good choice for a cover & a good cover of the choice.
Piano - as said - several time.
Snare? I thought it sounded good but I'm a bass player.
A very assured and reassuring job mate.
Anything you tweak will be lint collecting but then again lint on a black velvet suit may be a deal breaker.
I look forward to any update.

If that piano's clipping, I thought it was just piano attitude.

About the outro guitar: what about a vibrato on top of everything else? Think about it.

I really like this track, RAMI. I like the slightly clippy sound of the piano. I hear it mostly in the left speaker and I think it's part of the sound. It reminds me of a slightly overdriven Rhodes effect, which is certainly in keeping with the 60s feel. I like the slapback echo on the piano intro of the original, so I'd have liked to hear a bit of that on this! The drums sound so good and crisp on this, as always. I'd love to see screenshots of your eq for the toms - or is it all in the heads, miking and playing? Whatever, they sound awesome. I'm not sold on the snare for this track. It's a great sound for sure, but perhaps it pops a little too much for this song? Ringo's is so flat and "wiresy" it seems to sit in the track a little easier. Vocals effortless, tuneful and characterful. Bastard. :D

As usual, too good for this place. :D

Nice analogy. :D Thanx Ray. I'll probably remove some lint from that snare later today.

I think I will keep the piano the way it is. It really doesn't bother me. The snare doesn't suit the tune. As far as the outro, I don't want to stray too much from the original. I think I came close, not sure I want to start straying at this point. Thanx man.

Thanx Bubbo. I do have some slap back on the piano. I'll try a little more. As mentioned, I agree about the snare. It will change later today probably. A screen shot of the tom EQ won't help you much, mainly because there isn't one. :D I spent a lot of time tuning my toms recently, so I think 90% of it is the source.

Thanx a lot guys.

Drums sound great. Great playing too. Love the vocals - 'cept a couple of the high notes were a struggle. Bass, to me, is sitting at a perfect level.

I wasn't thrilled with the distorted guitar on the left. I can't remember what it sounded like on the Beatles version. It was just a little too fuzzy.

A couple of minor double tracking issues with the lead vocal - in the first :30-:40 seconds of the song. And very minor.

Thanx Triple. Funny, I didn't struggle to sing any of this. I thought I would, but most of the higher parts are a pretty easy falsetto. I'll check those double tracking issues you're talking about.

The guitar part you're talking about probably isn't even in the original. I think it's the only part I added on my own. I'll look into all that.

Thanx duder.

Some really great performances here; this is one of my favorite of theirs. My only real complaint about the mix is that it sounds kind of hollow once the band joins in. I hear lots of drums, bass, and vocals, but the piano and rhythm guitars seem to disappear a bit. All the tracks sound good when I hear them, but the mix just gets fully (IMO) once everyone joins in. Again, though, great performances! Thanks for sharing.

Thanx a lot, Famous.

I just re-tracked the drums. Same link as in the OP, but here, too:

Sounds better to me, are still recording with 4 mics? I'd like to hear the snare lowered a little bit, it pops out a bit more than the rest of the kit, mind you I'm listening on some Soundblaster kinda speakers right now.
I think this was a great version, everything is very well tracked.

I'm doing very good man, new house, became a dad for the first time.
D'AccorD is excelling, got all summer booked, sharing the stage with act like Uriah heep and Tom Jones :D

Really nice to hear your music again, it's been to long.

I agree ...... to me it's because the very bottom-end is 'boomy' ...... my very first thought when the band comes in was "Holy crap, that's a lot of bottom end!" I would like to hear the middle range a bit better.

Nice recording like always though.

Definitely some static in the piano intro. Other than that, it's pretty much beyond reproach... by my standards, anyway.

Personally I'd say there could be a just a little more boominess to the toms. By the way, are you a lefty? In the small-to-big tom roll in the beginning... I'm used to hearing them go the right, but this one sounds like it went to the left.

That also makes me wonder... do lefty drummers generally set up their kits backwards? (hihat on the right, floor tom on the left, etc)

while I'm at it, I don't agree with all the comments regarding the piano.
Listen to an old Wurlitzer electric piano sometimes. That's pretty much how they sound and actually ..... this piano is cleaner than an old Wurlitzer would likely be.
To my ears it sounds fine ...... I hear what everyone is talking about but it sounds just right for capturing the vintage sound.

He could have gone with more of a grand sound but this is fine as is to me.

I'm really glad you and the Beagle brought that up. I went back and listened, and realized that basically, the guitars weren't really part of the mix. It was all low end and piano/vocals. I "think" I addressed it and brought up the guitars. I hope it's better. Thanx to both of you. Sometimes it's the passing comments that make you listen harder to your own mix.

That's awesome, man. Uriah Heep, I used to love them. Good for you. Glad to see you're still carrying the torch. :D

I brought the snare down a bit and the guitars up. Hopefully, it's a more balanced mix now.

I am a lefty. Yes, we set up our kits "backwards". I've known some lefty's that set up their kit rightie, but generally, a lefty will set up his kit opposite of what normal humans do.

Yeah, I'm not too concerned with a bit of dirt on the keyboard sound. I have bigger things to worry about in this mix. :)

Yep ... some distortion on the opening piano.

Otherwise, just excellent dude.

Oh yeah, I meant to ask you guys.

Does anyone hear any distortion on the piano in the intro?

 :D

because piano can only be perfectly , spectacularly clean with no hint of actually sounding like the electric pianos of that era sounded.

;)

A joke, right? But no, I thought it was just the sound of the piano. It didn't sound clipped to me, it just sounded like it had attitude.

I would say there's not enough distortion on the piano.
