Love it, TAE! The only thing for me is that with your gritty (and amazing) voice and the slightly middly piano that some warmth would help the track. If it was mastered with warmed-up eq this would be fantastic to me.
Now that I think of it, this "raspy / playful style" I have recently adapted is very Randy Newmanish and thus why it reminded you of Toy Story...He does 3 songs in the movie
Someone else mentioned Randy Newman up above.. When I speak of my early keyboard player influences I never mention him but now in retrospect I owned and listened to his Sail Away album 100's of times in the early 70's ..especially Political Science ...that's right about the time in my life when I decided I was going to take a swat at playing keys in a band and get rich n famous...well I played keys in a kick ass rock band for several years was kind of locally "famous" but missed the mark in a big way on the rich part.
I always saw Elton, Wakeman, Emerson, Nicky Hopkins, Winwood, Greg Rollie and Mc Cartney as my main keyboard influences..Never gave Randy a thought...damn he had way more influence on me than I realized ...Oh well 40 years later is better than never giving him credit.
The Newman family is huge in Movie and TV soundtracks.... It'd be so cool to get a song in a movie...
