Thanks, NTB! Those will be spot on!

I was going to send a file that began with the "oooohs" and was interrupted 2 seconds in with me ripping into a guitar solo. That would have learned ya to talk shit about my guitar playing!

No problem, happy I could help for a change. You did do a hell of a job on it. The song is starting to grow on me a little.

That would've been funny. I thought my quip had passed you by. :D

Hey, thanks again. :D And that's a compliment indeed. :)

Nothing gets past me. Ever!

Except for how you wrote earlier that there are also "ooohs" in the outro to the song. I must have missed that, eh? Sorry about that. Glad you were able to repurpose the others for the ending.

Are you Canadian?

You can do anything with a DAW. :D

What's concerning me is that this track is not getting enough love. Either A: it's too good so nobody comments; B: it's too obscure so nobody comments; C: The rest of Home Recording is Ghey. :D

I didn't comment earlier because I'm not familiar with the original. Very clean overall sound, a little too bright and too much reverb for my taste, but that's just me.

OOOOOOOOHHHHHHH is COOOOOOOOOOOOOOOl.
Works for me.
I listened for "bright" but only the solo thing is bright in my system.
"repurpose" C'mon NTB.
He "repurposed" them as peak oil warning sirens!
Bubba did a bit of copy/paste DAWdling and made the song complete.
Nice collaboration chaps.
Now for a Kraft Spaghetti Dinner.

Yes, some of the instruments on the original have some severe harmonic overtones in the upper mids, but that's part of their analogue/period charm. In some ways, they haven't come out quite harsh enough for me to be totally happy with them. The reverb thing is certainly a matter of taste. I referenced the original track for the mix, which probably referenced original Jamaican Dub for its mix cues. That's always heavy on the reverb, often with random echo sends on various instruments and extremely spacious soundscapes. Strangely, the drums are mixed almost dry.

But thanks for the comments, they're always appreciated. :)

The boy done good, didn't he? :D I might need his help in the future, seeing as I've lost my falsetto. A few years ago I'd have done those parts myself, but there's no accounting for what aging does to your larynx. Thanks, Ray.

By the way- you're far too humble and self-effacing. Get your stuff out there. :)

CANADA BELONGS TO ME.

That was a quip, not to be taken literally, as I am aware that DAWs can do that. HOWEVER... ironically enough, as my intention (or PURPOSE), was to give him "ooohs" for each section respectively (I gave him the first two, not realizing that there was an outro with them), he did, in fact, literally REPURPOSE the "ooohs" that I gave him for an earlier section and used them in a later section.

NotThatBright takin' motherfuckers to SCHOOL in this jizoint! Holla! :)

Awesome. I'm a huge Clash fan and this was a great version of there song. The only band that matters.

Great backing vox :) much better than I could've managed. Quality recording this.

I'm really late to this, sorry.

But it sounds really good. Guitars sound very cool. Drums sound great. Vocal sound is very clear and nice.

Only a couple of nits... You could probably turn down the bass just a little bit and turn down the reverb on the backing vocals a bit.

It's funny you should mention this, TripleM, because I've done exactly that, and that's the version I've listened to a dozen times since I rendered it a couple of days ago! :D And I'm still happy with it, which is a good sign. I haven't posted an updated mix because I thought (almost) everybody who might be interested had commented, and there's such a thing as outstaying your welcome. ;) I couldn't work out why the b.v.s weren't having the impact they should, went to sleep on it, then in the morning it was totally obvious there was too much reverb on them.

Thanks so much for your positive comments, too. :thumbs up:

Here's the version I've been listening to:
