I have always wanted to sing with an orchestra. the jazzy vibe ...the brush rubbing the snare....pinstripe suit and carnation.
Ain't gonna happen. So, im stuck with a accompianment track.

I love this song and just wanted to sing it. I gave it my best shot and gained a new found respect for people like Sinatra, Harry Connick Jr, and Toney Bennett.

THIS IS SOME HARD STUFF TO SING!!....:cursing:
yet it sounds so simple.

The main thing is to HAVE A MERRY CHRISTMAS MY HOMECOMING FRIENDS!!!!!!

I totally love this, you have a great voice. Sounds like you need just a little bit more control of it compared to the pros, but honestly if this was anywhere but a home recording forum I would have thought this was an original version from the 50s or something. Sinatra is big on my playlist, especially around the winter time.

Thanks Eric. To tell you the truth I've never tried to sing this style of music before. Im mostly blues, rock, and a little country. I was like "I'll knock this puppy out in one quick take"

wrong.

I didn't realize how hard the phrasing and the vibrato is to get right in this style of singing. Its second nature to an experienced jazz singer I'm sure. But...
My first stab as this would have made a great joke thread. It would have gotten some he he's and ha ha's for sure. It was embarrassing.
LOL
thanks for listening and MERRY CHRISTMAS!

I was exceedingly impressed by this. You have the right smokiness in your voice to carry this off, and you have done a highly credible job.

I can hear that it is not your customary genre . . . there are phrasing and breathing things that reveal its unfamiliarity.

But . . . I enjoyed it immensely. It was a delight to listen to. It was silky and smooth, like cointreau on ice.

These songs sound easy, but once you actually try to sing them, they reveal themselves to be very difficult. In my theatre company we did a show featuring Jerome Kern's music, and that really tested us out. That sort of songwriting is not as common these days.

Nice vocal, performance wise and with regards how it sat with the instrumental tonally. Sounded pretty authentic to me.

Was never big on crooners, but it was cool to hear this. Maybe try the suit and carnation next time if you do something like this again, or at least a snazzy sports jacket, shirt and tie, might make it seem easier. Also love it when Christmas stuff makes reference to Yuletide.

Thanks gecko.
I really appreciate the kind words. I know there are some quirks and flaws in it still...I hear them. I actually think I could nail this song with some practice though
Merry Christmas bro!

Thanks Anders.
Everytime I hear the term "Yuletide" I'm reminded of the Christmas Vacation movie where Chevy Chase was talking to the babe in the Dept. store and saying;
"Yule log...did I say log? I don't have a log... in the sense that you think I have a log..."
That still cracks me up everytime I see it.
lol
Thanks for the comment and Merry Christmas!

Thanks a lot Boken_H and TripleM. I appreciate you listening and commenting. I hope you guys have a very merry Christmas!

I think you've done a top job. Top song and some great crooning right there.

:thumbs up:

Thanks Mr Clean. I appreciate to taking time to listen and comment. Merry Christmas to you!

Wow. I am not so crazy about this tune or Christmas music generally, but of course I know the tune well (I guess everyone does? :)).

I think the vocal on this is nothing short of amazing. I was really taken aback and struck by how authentic it sounded. The phrasing and the vibrato and just the tone of your voice itself were really perfect for this tune.

The backing track is what it is, but man...really nice job on this!

Thanks so much heatmiser. I used a Electra voice RE 410 handheld condenser mic on the vocal. I think it's a very warm sounding mic...but with great definition.
I bought it for 100 bucks used at guitar center.
Thanks and Merry Christmas!
