Drums are (to me) too loud, they're out of the mix it sounds like.
The softer vocals are pretty clear but the loud stuff is kinda hard to understand. Don't worry about your vocal - just get it out front as it is (again to me) the main focus of the song.
The falsetto/high vocals are nice where they are - sort of a wind instrument effect which is cool.
I like the tempo and the vocal arrangement is perfect for this. It has ups and downs that give it a kind of energy shift. Nirvana - took me a while to think who it feels like.

Thanks, Ido. :D Yep, Nirvana pretty much stole Pixies' dynamics, and have 'fessed up to it as well. :D I think I must be the only one who likes the drums taking my head off. :D

And thanks for the encouragement on the vocals, it's appreciated. :thumbs up:

There's a new mix on page 1. :)

I prefer the drums louder. :D

Yeah, this one's a firm family favourite in our house - good choice of cover Bubba. Having listened to Paranoid Android and this, you've got a real talent for dialing in the sounds of the originals - the tones are spot on. Only two things stuck out for me.

Firstly, vocals sound really good, but could still do with coming up I think - I think you may feel a bit self-conscious about them and so have pushed them back a bit? The reverb is in a much better space on the second mix.

Secondly, the volume jump from the intro guitar to the drums coming in is a little bit too much too - I'd be tempted to bring up the volume of those first couple of bars so that the difference isn't quite so stark.

Really nice work though. It's funny reading the Albini comments on the vocal-less version thread. Reminded me that he was so massively uncomplimentary about them at the time - saying something like he'd never met four cows more willing to be led round by their nose rings. Heh heh.

Cheers, Rob - yes, I am self-conscious about my vocals, but I'll try to be less so. It's funny you should mention the guitar intro, because in the second mix I pushed up the acoustic guitars quit a bit and I thought the track benefited quite a lot from doing so. Anyway, I'm about to post my Paranoid Android - with vocals! :D
