J.S. Bach: "Switched-On" Brandenburg Concerto No. 3 in G major (BWV 1048), 1. Allegro [Synthesized] - YouTube

I would estimate that about half of all music composed in the last 20 years simply would not exist but for MIDI.

Dave.
That's not what you originally said, you changed it. But I would estimate that you are wrong anyway. Keyboard music was prominent in the 80's, but not in the last 20 years. I would also estimate that if MIDI didn't exist, then maybe the 80's wouldn't have sucked so bad, musically.

Sorry, can't deal with someone who is ignorant of Moog and Carlos!

Dave.

I'm sorry, I can't deal with someone who's ignorant enough to think that just because they like something, everyone else needs to like it, too. That's arrogant, pompous, and extremely narrow-minded. I am very aware of Moog, by the way, so maybe you should think before you put words in my mouth and jump to the wrong conclusions that show how ignorant YOU can be. You keep jumping around from one false statement to another.

The fact is, all I did was disagree with your initial statement that "everyone is richer musically because of MIDI". It's a stupid thing to say because it's false. But you obviously realize that because you jumped to a bunch of other irrelevant and, as it turns out, also false statements just because I didn't agree with you.

Never mind....I see you realized your mistake about Carlos/Bach having nothing to do with MIDI. It was done before MIDI existed.

Thank god for Protools, or else we never would have heard of Chuck Berry!!!!

:laughings: :laughings: :laughings:

Now, what was this thread about? :)
If you use the first keyboard midi out to midi in of the next keyboard then use midi thru of the second to your midi in on your computer, the information from both units will be passed to the input if I remember right.

If you plug the midi out of the second keyboard to Jell-O it will have the same effect. :D

How many phones have you put in your disposal? :laughings:
My wife is The Phone Whisperer and she already tried copyrighting "Chuckberry" ;)

Well, then it's only fair that she keeps it. I've never even owned a cel phone, so I've never actually chucked one out either. :D

Geez - you guys! :spank: The OP is probalby afraid to come back now!

Hey
Thanks for all the replies I am going to be doing a lot of reading this weekend and learn more about this stuff and then I might have a few more questions for you guys. quick two questions. If I got a new keyboard that only had a USB out would a USB to MIDI cable work into an interface ? also are there I guess MIDI splitters ? I guess I am looking to in the future of course purchase a full size keyboard for shows and what not (way down the road) but would I be able to have two keyboards plug into an interface with 1 MIDI I/O at the same time through a splitter or something so I wouldn't have to unplug and plug a new one in I don't want to play both at the same time. Just curious is all

Verify that the USB out from the keyboard is for MIDI signal - there are some keyboards that may provide audio through the USB, not MIDI.
If you have USB-MIDI output you can plug that directly into your computer to record the MIDI signal in your DAW. Use a separate USB port, leave your audio interface plugged in for audio input/output.

That happens often, even when people don't go off topic. No big deal. But when you think of it....really? Afraid? Do people actually become AFRAID of posting on an internet forum? Are we seriously supposed to care about someone that actually gets scared that easily?

I'll remember never to simply disagree with certain people........NOT. I love having conversations where people just make false shit up to prove my point for me. :)

It is the NEWBIES section! Afraid to post here because a coven of crazed studio loons goes off on complete tangents, leaving them no further along. So instead they end up at gearslutz or harmony central. And you know what those places are like!

I understand what you're saying. But it's the internet. Threads in every forum of every aspect of life go off on different tangents. Big freaking deal. I can understand "scaring him away" if insults were directed at him, but that's not what happened. We simply went slightly, and I mean slightly off-topic, since we were still taking about MIDI (even if MIDI had nothing to do with Wendy Carlos, that's besides the point). I get what you're saying, but we didn't go nuts here. I've seen way worse.

And you know what those places are like!
Yes, 200 times worse than this place ever gets.
