I'll be interested to hear what you think of it after you've used it. Quite a bargain if it works well - 10 simultaneous track USB/Firewire 24 bit digital conversion is not something you see for $300. I would be suspicous of the overall quality and specifically the preamp quality at that price. One issue wiht USB mixers has always been the ever-present 'whine' of the A-d-A converters if the signal/gain is from it is cranked up too much.

What I mean is computer hardware requirements to use the 10 inputs simultaneously. I wanted to use it on an ancient machine. Actually, I was just planning on using it as an A/D converter, taking line ins from another board and/or preamps. This brings up a point, though. If I use the line in on a channel on a board, does it go through the pre, or is that bypassed?

On cheap mixers typically the line-in still goes through the preamp, but with a pad. I'd go with something more proven for a-d conversion myself, like the Tascam US1800.
You're going to need a fairly fast hard drive (external or internal) and I'd recommend 6 or more Gigs of Ram.

No. It doesn't go through the pre amp. When you say "ancient machine", you are saying ____________________ ?
Mike mentioned the hard drive and he is correct. The hard drive is the limiting factor on number of tracks. I have never done 10 tracks in with the Phonic. I did up to four, but mostly two tracks.
You can get the board and try it out, if it doesn't work, send it back for a refund. You pay shipping. I'm an honest guy, I'll give you your money back if you don't like it or it doesn't work out for ya.

Oh, Jeez, didn't know you were getting it from Chili used! I thought you were talking about a new mixer for $300, hence my skepticism.
