I guess that is to prompt those of us still sitting on the fence to finally decide. :mad: I like my fence.

I really didn't see any need to update. Now I'm convinced.

I couldn't find the € or £ prices there is there a link? or is this only for non-EU customers?

Well what a freakin surprise! With Logic Pro X and all the other competition, I was sure prices would fall shortly. Guess that's out.

I'm not upgrading. Meh.

I was just hunting to see if 7.0.6 had been released (I think its this Thursday) and came across this.

I figured you guys would rather know now, than in October.

I have to say that Cubase 7 is worth the upgrade if you have the computer to handle it. Its pretty cool.

no idea, check the German language site and see what it says. It maybe just a currency devaluation on Stienberg's part, or they are prodding people to upgrade. this makes it easier to have a christmas sale and bring the prices back down to where they are now but that's just a guess.

Sounds like they are confident in the stability of the next update of Cubase 7 to me. I take that as a reason to upgrade now. Well, for those that haven't.

I did early on, and honestly, I friggen love all of the new mixer and additions to control of software. If you watch the steinberg forum, you are likely hearing from people who are devoted to the software, and are jaded by changes. The thing is, the changes are completely amazing to some (myself included). If you don't like the new (I use loosely 'BETA' version), then stick to 6.5. Even if you upgrade, you still have use of the one you are used to.

IMO: The Steinberg forum was full of negative crap by users that either did not understand how Steinberg releases new ideas faster than any other DAW producer-and therefore decide to complain about the new changes. Or, they did not realize that this is how Steinberg works. Could you imagine how much time and expense it would take to test complete changing of a DAW? Multiple platforms, and the variables that computer builds and their aftermarket hardware entails? There may not have been the opportunity to evolve with the software, and pay the minimal price for upgrade, had they not released the early versions. I have only had a few 'workflow' issues that were not addressed early on. Otherwise smooth sailing. The new releases allow them to have direct input from users of the software. I find this quite inspiring myself. Some like to call this 'using' the daily users of their software as free beta testers. Well, friggen duh! Why would you not want to be part of your software's development? If you already have a version of Cubase that you are working professionally with, then you should know better than to upgrade to a new version of Cubase during a project. I still did anyway, because I like new toys. Still, no major hangups.

This all coming from your friendly moderator of HR, that was banned by steinberg forum last week for calling out a member of the site for being a ****. I deserved it (respect the decision) as I violated the TOS of the site by insulting a member. Still, I have nothing but respect for the software I find stunning.

My opinion, upgrade while it is at this price point. Or be pissed at yourself later for not doing so...

My upgrade price is $99USD. I guess I can hack up a lung for that. :p

(I'm also lookling at getting another UAD card... and braces for the kid :( )

Ok let's see what we are talking about

Once your in the boat with Cubase it was a 150$/year, now will be 250$
That is not inviting. I am thinking to upgrade now and wait to activate it to version 8 with the grace period.

Cubase Artist 6.5: USD 349.99* -> 300 = 50$
Cubase Artist 6, Cubase Studio 4/5: USD 399*-> 350 = 50$
