How to Prevent Guitar Track from getting Exhausting/Boring

Hey OP. How is your strumming style? I worked on mine over the years so I can play the same two or three chords over and over for several minutes while keeping it interesting(ish!) - what a fun time I have had. I guess with an electric pushed to the edge of overdrive, the compression you get makes it difficult to vary volume of each strum/note.

I think, then, you need to vary in other ways - picking a few notes here and there, a bit of palm-muting, changing the pattern completely, etc. I find incorporating stops (muting all the strings suddenly - dunno if that's the correct term) are good to add dynamism.

In other words, write more interesting parts (sorry).

Record and post a clip - maybe we can help you more.

Wait a minute... Not that kind of best. Best at... ısısısısısıs

Seriously prof.o, you should post a clip if you expect any type of worthy advice. How is it that you hear issues with your recordings, but unable to post a clip of them? That does not make any sense.

Two moderators of this forum are now participating in this thread. Nothing should be causing you to have any issues with members here. You came to this forum for advice. You are getting it. Whether it is what you wish to hear is on you.

Please post a clip, or just take a nap or something. Trolling back is doing you or any other member no good whatsoever. This thread is ready for a complete edit.

If a moderator is reading, please remove this thread entirely and my membership. I'm not seeking advice any more. You consider me a troll, fine with me. Just delete my account, thanks.

I would rather you post a clip. Everyone here is trying to help. Becoming defensive, then falling out is not going to help you in any way.

Take the advice given, and use that to improve. Ignore the things you do not want to hear if you wish, but arguing with them is not going to be productive.

The members that frequent this forum regularly are not here to stroke anyone. We take the time to give honest opinions to new members and each other. We all learn from each other. Good or bad, whether something you want to hear or not, is not a given. It is up to you to decide what is good advice for you.

And I am reading...just not the way it works.

Jimmy doing an Internet intervention... :D

Check the IP, Jimmy....this thread is very deja vu...like from just a few weeks back. ;)

I meant....does it cross-reference any previous banned aliases...?

Seems like we've had a few very similar type of "new" members join up in the last couple of months....they post up a question, get pissy about the answers, argue for a few pages, then leave or get banned.

Then again....the world is full of them.... :)

if one makes the assumption that the former is more common when acoustic is played and latter more common with electric.
why would you make that assumption?
I do solo gigs all the time and I never use an acoustic but I often play songs that would use an acoustic style finger picking ....... I was unaware of any rules that prohibit me from doing that.

Yes, I am unable to ignore replies that I don't find useful. Are you a perfect person?

Sure, I understand the shortcomings of my original question. And I have no clips to offer now, otherwise I would. You are right about that. But the ratio of unnecessary (at best) talk to useful advice was low. I'm sure it wasn't my best day yesterday but I've never experienced anything like this in my many years of forum participation and I've asked some really basic or misinformed questions at times, I'm sure. I mean, nobody ever said fuck you or repeated the same thing (which I'm not contesting anyway) over and over and over again. I'll call it bad luck, but I really don't want to stay in this forum after this. It was a pretty bad experience. I'm happy in my other forums. I'll go back there. Thank you for bothering to write in a civilized manner anyway.
lol ...... most of the other forums are way worse than this so you're definitely overly sensitive and I doubt you've had a lotta experience in forums if you claim this is the first time you've run into people not stroking your ego and telling you pretty kitty type comments. but buh-bye!

Man, I thought I gave really good advice on composition. :( Your question kind of hit home with me because a while back, I realized that a strummed guitar is boring. That my strummed guitar was boring. I had the opportunity to collab with some other guys here and I got to hear their songs broken down and it taught me something. I think delving into other people's songs like that really opened my eyes to writing better parts.

Just in case you missed it, here's what I said earlier. I still think it's sound advice from someone who is NOT trying to be famous. :)

Strumming is boring. End of story. Don't strum. Play a little fill line. Learn to finger pick. Play arpeggios.

Build your song as it progresses from beginning to end. Don't keep it at the same level. For each line of verse, play the guitar slightly different. For each new verse, add a new instrument. Mayyyyybe it's okay to strum for a typical bridge, last chorus or outro when the song is moving along solidly.

didn't say that or even allude to it.
I asked a direct question and you answered it.
As for the specific point I made ...... some people can ignore posts and others can't ..... good luck to you on finding a place that makes you feel better ..... I'm sure they're out there.

If you're unable to ignore replies that you don't like then this is definitely the wrong forum for you ..... as I said, Buh-bye! Good luck to you and your highly regarded songs.
