Tempo Changes When Using A Click

Let's start over: what have I said about recording drums that is wrong, in your opinion?

But I gave countless examples where I wasnt, this guy greg cant play drums to a track that didnt use a click. Is he a bad drummer? I dont know, but even the best drummers need one. Not to play in a band or with a band, but to play in a way that allows recording to be done

That a good drummer wont need a click track to play in synch with a scratch guitar track, let me rephrase, that the guitar or whatever instrument would have had to been played to a click in order for the drummer to stay in time with it

We actually agree on a lot of technical points (like click tracks, etc)...but we often disagree on subjective views, which is OK.

The turtle is lost on the technical, and thinks that just having some degree and theory, he should be able to record well.
Obviously he can't...and he's here in a home recording forum looking for help, but unwilling to admit he needs it.

Hey turtle...grab one of your collge text books and read the part where they cover recording to a click track.....

You need to be able to play to do it well...just like you need to be a decent singer and have some studio chops to do doubled vocals well.
Get over it....you're stuck and your degree isn't helping you.

You're wrong on that point because a good drummer will be able to listen and identify where he needs to make his adjustments. You've just never been around good drummers, so you don't get that, and that's fine. I'm just trying to explain it to you as a drummer that can and does play to anything and everything regardless of how it was recorded.

But what if the scratch track was played by a guy who can't hold tempo...but hides that with the "feel" argument...

Are you working on a track that doesnt use a click track to synch your playing with? Cause you can blow all the smoke you want, it can not be done, perhaps with lots of tech work later on
