Hello:

This is my first post, and I'm sorry if it's not customary to just jump in and ask for help. But, I need some serious help.

I've been using Pro Tools for years, and have never had a problem.

I'm trying to import audio from a movie scene to sync with the video clip I have. It's a mono AIFF track. The note above "regions currently chosen" says "Scene 1 can be added directly to the current session". I click Open and NOTHING. No error message, no import, nothing.

Has this happened to anyone? Anyone know how to fix this. I need to start recording this soundtrack.

I've only used Pro Tools in it's most basic form. But, I've never had a problem, and I've soundtracked before. This is just weird.

Thanks in advance for any help.

And HOWDY!

This doesn't mean anything to me. Have you tried the good ol' click and drag or file>import?

I did try to click and drag and it does nothing. I wasn't bothered by that because I didn't think you could click and drag into Pro Tools.

Stupid question: Where do I let go when I drag it into Pro Tools? I tried dragging it to a track and below a track, and nothing happened.

Thanks

That should have done it if you were in the edit window.
Well, did you try file>import. It might actually be under edit....I've never used it. :p

This is a separate audio file, right? If that doesn't work I'd guess there's something wrong with the file.

I was in the edit window and it didn't work. I just tried IMPORT AUDIO FROM CURRENT MOVIE. It took the audio, created 2 mono AIFF and placed them in a folder within the session. It just won't actually add them to a track.

I have to be doing something wrong.

Hmm. Messed up.
The only time I've ever had movies in a session, the audio was brought in automatically. Ie, it was one import to cover audio and video.

I have no idea why this worked. But I opened the workspace browser clicked on an audio file and it brought it in.

Thanks!

Now I need aspirin to get rid of the headache I gave myself.

I'm asking because I've really never tried this before... Was your session set up with the same audio specs (sample rate, .aif/.aiff file type, bit depth) as the source material that you attempted to import?

Could a mismatch in file formats have caused the odd behaviour?

Also, just out of curiosity, why the .aiff (vs. .wav that would include time stamp info)?
