Dude, that chorus is killer. The choice of melody there was great; it broke from the progression I was expecting based on the verses. Great tune. On the second verse I could totally hear an echo after block. "up and down my block (block block)". That would be cool. Yeah. *butthead voice*

Yeah, personally, I could use a bit more of the vocal....not a ton, but it's a bit quieter than some of your tunes. But, whatevah....:thumbs up:
Okay thanks Dogfart!

Haha, okay thanks man. I thought about adding some delay to the end of a few lines, but I've done that on a different song recently and don't wanna overuse it.

Lol @ "hot rod T Rex", feckin maniac. :D

Sounds pretty good bud. :)

The lyrics are classic - very witty. This is what they should have had for the theme music to The Flinstones. Kudos to my fellow Neanderthal.

I can dig this like that of an Archaeological Anthropologist.

See what i did there? Didja?

I like it as is. I wouldn't touch anything. It's polished yet still quite gritty and I love that stuff. I also can stand behind that chugging at the very beginning. I love that sound. Love it! That sound and nice controlled feedback is just beautiful. I am not sure how if feel about the wonky bass effects though. I don't hate it. I am not in love with it. But it needs to stay, strangely when i listen to it again and imagine it wasn't there it might not gel the whole thing together as nice. Maybe if it were more subtle and not as in your face? I guess that would defeat the purpose of an in your face caveman rock anthem. Definitely not worthy of a rehash though.

Don't mind me. I am just here.

I like how the lyrics link from "evolve" to a product that offers "drum loops" and "individual drum hits"....but, they sound so real?!?

I think this sounds great. I like the vocal level where it's at myself. Guitars sound great.

I wouldn't have chosen the warbling bass effect, but I think it works well here. Fun tune. :thumbs up:

I'm not following this ..... where'd I miss the drum loop products in the lyrics?

HR added a link in the lyrics on the word evolve (look back at the OP).

I listened to half of this at work before I was interrupted, sounded pretty good on my headphones. I'll try and have a full listen today and provide further critical insight! Vocal level sounded fine to me.

Thanks for checking it out. :)

Cool, thanks for the feedback. I wanted the guitars to drop out and have just the bass during that last verse but it just sounded too plain with the bass as it is in the rest of the song. I wanted something else in there. Something weird.

Cool, thanks heat. I'm a little surprised the wongo bass isn't getting much love. I think it's pretty ridiculously awesome. :D

Awesome thanks. :)

Enjoyed this Greg - the lyrics are great, they have a cool retro cartoon quality about them, especially the dragging women by their hair part. I felt they were forced into the meter a little in a couple of parts though. The one that sticks out for me is the "I bodyslammed a triceratops" line - it feels like it's missing a syllable. Something like "I bodyslammed a [big or bad or something] triceratops" with the points of emphasis in the phrase altered a little might sit better.

I dunno though, at the same time there's something quite fitting about the neanderthal bludgeoning the meter into submission :D

Thanks dude. Some of the lines start and stop on different beats to make them fit. I don't usually think about that stuff. I just cram em in there.

Sounded real good, just like usual.

There's a guitar on the left that comes in in the intro. I think you could boost it a db or two.

The first two lines of the vocal are a little tough to hear. Maybe boost them a db or so. Ditto for the lead guitar in the middle.

That's about all I can come up with to possibly improve it. It was real good.

I liked what you did with the bass and guitar in the 3rd verse.

So that's what heavy guitars are supposed to sound like. I got to get me an amp. :D

Everything sounds just great. Are all your cymbals small? That's the only thing I've occasionally noticed. Your cymbals sometimes sound like small cymbals, or you boosted the very high's. Or maybe they just sound different from mine, so I'm not used to the sound.

Anyway, it's not just your recordings that are good. Your songs are consistently rocking too.

This kind of weird is much nicer than the alternatives. Like Less Claypool weird or something?

Cool, thanks TripM. All noted. :)

Thanks a lot Rami. Yeah, get a big ol Marshall! :D These guitars were done at pretty massive volume levels. Haha. One of the things I like about these guitar tracks is that they're satisfactorily punk rock rip-roaring without using a bunch of gain. I personally wouldn't say they're "heavy". If someone were to do a metal song with these same settings, it wouldn't work. They're not overdriven enough. I could probably do a halfway decent AC/DC sound with the same settings, it would just have to be slowed way down.

My cymbals definitely are not small. My hats are 15", and the crashes are 16", 18", and 20" - all mediums. The crash/ride is a heavy 20", and the ride is 22". The only EQ in the OH's is some way low end cleanup that doesn't really affect the cymbal sound, it just cleans up some woof and boom from the kick. These cymbals are way too loud and monstrous for the room I record in, but they absolutely kill live.

This kind of weird is much nicer than the alternatives. Like Less Claypool weird or something?

Man, I really tried to like Primus about 20 years ago, but I just can't do it. To me they're like Rush. Okay in tiny doses, but I don't want to listen for long.

great stuff as usual...all sounded tight and clear to me

dunno why but when i read it i expected a more sort of sixties garage tune...tbh id love to hear your take on that kind of eras stuff, i hear surf in some of your tunes but rarely that garage sound...i remember a lot of raw crazy stuff coming out of texas back then

ill shut up now :)

Hey that's my great-great-granpaw yo talkin' about!!:eek::laughings::D
Great stuff, Greg!
Everything sitting and rockin' in its place. And as usual, your hooklines are totally catchy ;)
Do you play your stuff live, never asked you that?
Keep kicking' that ass! :drunk:

Cool, a vote for leave the vocals alone. Thanks. :D
Wow, thanks a lot. I've never inspired anyone before....that I know of or they'd admit to. :D

I think it sounds fine.
You have definitely inspired me, Greg.

Thanks K. I don't know about sixties garage. I admire the sound and style, but I don't really get much direct influence from it. I'd probably make a mockery of it.

Thanks a lot Joey! No, I don't play my stuff anywhere. I drum in an original material rock band, but we don't touch my music. My guys are good musicians, but they're not cut out for my kind of music. I'd need to front my own band, and it's just too much damn work. I've been thinking about it though.

I think it sounds fine.

Cool, thanks Sam. :)

VOX as is.
Signature sound & signature recording excellence mark this as another Greg L track.
Good fun too!
