This is a wicked song. You got a good voice for it. I like it a LOT.
Thanx a lot, Ms. thegirl.

Thanx a lot Jimi. I'd love to do "Trampled". I'm sure it's a lot easier to sing than this one, too. Problem is, it really needs that clavinet for the main riff.Very cool Rami. Physical graffiti was one of my favorite records, that I bought as soon as it came out, and this is a great tune off that record. No you don't have the exact vocal qualities and rasp of plant...but who does? The vocal performance wasn't pitchy and sounded very good in its own right. No, the guitar sound wasn't exactly what jimmy page captured...but the guitars sound very good in the context of the whole track. No, the drums don't sound exactly like that particular recording of Bonzos but that sound great and the performance was there. I thought it was a fantastic recording of a great Zep tune (no easy feat). I thoroughly enjoyed it!
Now cover my favorite tune from that album "trampled underfoot"
Thanx a lot guys. Didn't mean to ignore the last couple of posts, but I wanted to figure out and fix a few things first.
I'm almost embarrassed to admit this, but I did something really stupid. My eyes are bad and if I don't have reading glasses on, which I almost never do, I have to squint and get really close to the screen just to see the difference between an "i" and an "l", or an "m" and an "n". So, to make a long story short, I was rendering my mix in 2Bit, not 24bit.I could have sworn I was reading "24", but it was "2".
It was driving me crazy and I couldn't figure out why the rendered "24 bit" mix sounded like it had a blanket over it. I thought it was impossible so it must have been my imagination, but it wasn't. Nice to know my ears are just a little better than my eyes.
Anyway, I put up another mix, if anyone cares any more....I barely do.
Pretty funny that I said this in my first post:
Yeah right.
CUSTARD PIE
Thanx a lot, Ms. thegirl.![]()
Bulls Hit, if you're still around to read this, I didn't mean to ignore you either. I was just really caught up in figuring out why this mix was driving me crazy, as well as trying to figure out what was wrong with my guitar. I see what you did with that. It's definitely bigger. Thanx for the help man, but the problem was in my stupidity and eye-sight.![]()
Thanx Elton.Love it.
Awesome, that's nice to hear. Whew...that was a wild ride.Lol. That's about ten trillion times better.
Only until you get to know us.Canadians are so polite and helpful
Thanx a lot Ronhar, much appreciated.Great song Rami! I never heard this song so not much to compare to till I heard the original. I think you nailed it for a cover. The small differences remind me of hearing the differences in some bands studio vs live recordings. Depending on the song, miles on the tour and variations due to the repetativeness, lots of the great bands couldn't cover themselves if they were required to. Thats the nature of performed music. Love your drumming and tight bass.
Hey glad you got to the bottom of the problem. You've done a great job with the tune, best cover of Custard Pie I've ever heard. Kudos
Thanx a lot Heat! This is really, very well executed Rami.
No need to apologise. I listen to a lot of stuff I don't comment on and it has nothing to do with whether I like it or not.I've listened a bunch of times but don't think I ever bothered to comment (sorry!).
I think I missed the 2bit version - didn't even know that was an option!
I love what he did. The only thing was that it was applied to the whole mix, which he obviously had no other choice.Bull...............I actually kind of like what his processing did to it (despite obvious problems related to applying FX to the stereo mix rather than individual tracks - noise, etc.). It made it bigger and rougher sounding which better suits my tastes.
Thanx Greg.Congrats! I can only listen on cans right now, but that surely seems to be worlds better than what I remember. Might be a little bright, just a little. What's your amp settings, mic, and mic position?
Thanx Greg.
I actually forgot to mention that I used 2 different settings on the left and right panned guitars.
On the e left, I used a "Fender Super Sonic" setting. I had to roll the gain down to 5 and still had a lot of drive.
On the right, I used a "Marshall 70's" setting. I had to put the gain up to 10 on that one.
Both guitars have the treble at about 5 and the bass at about 2. I find all the sounds on this amp sound good in the room when the bass is at about 5, but are way too bass-y when recorded that way.
I placed the mic in 5 different places, recorded a few seconds of each one, and listened back.
It was a toss up between having it right where the dust cap meets the speaker, or having it a few inches over, half way between the outside of the speaker and the dust cap. I ended up going for the first one, which was brighter. Maybe the other one would have been perfect if this is a little too bright.
So, are all the links changed to the new version? Or, can I A/B them by listening to the one at the top and then this new one?
I'll try that. I'll try rolling off some treble too. Still got a lot of experimenting to do. Like we've discussed, that's why I'm using a cover as my first trial tracks.Cool. I like that dustcap/cone placement. That's my go-to spot 99% of the time. I'd say leave the mic there and bring the bass up. In my opinion a marginally bright guitar tracks is a good thing as long as there's lows and mids thickening it up.
