Fast Track + Audiophile 2496 + AV40 = beeping noise

Hi, I have a problem with my new Fast Track Usb (2nd gen.).
My main audio card is a M-Audio PCI 2496 Audiophile and my monitors are 2 M-Audio AV40 . I just bought a Fast track, installed drivers and connected to the pc (64 bit win7). I've selected the fast track as main (and only) input/recording device, while the audiophile is the main output device.
The problem is A CONSTANT, CONTINUOUS, HIGH PITCHED NOISE, which is very faint (audible only cranking the speakers very high) when not using the Fast Track. This faint "beeeeeeeeeep" gets higher when I open programs that use the Fast Track, even the windows audio control panel. In both cases turning up the monitors volume makes the noise louder, when the monitors' volume is set to 0 the noise disappears.
The cards are connected to the monitors with rca/rca cables to the rca input (audiophile) and two rca/mono jack to the TRS input (fast track).
Every driver is updated, every socket is correctly grounded.

How can I solve this issue??

You can't AFAIK! If you are using ASIO drivers you can only use one soundcard at a time. Thus Fast track OR 2496, not in from one and out from the other.
Even if you use other drivers you still cannot run "multi-client" (I think is the term?) with most DAW software, the only one that will AFAIK is Samplitude as I have run the 2496, Fast track pro and a Bellringer UCA202 to get 6 tracks! But I have to use MME drivers and this was a while ago on XP, dunno about W7!

I would suggest you disable the 2496 in Control Panel and then possibly re install the Fast track drivers. You might still have a problem because W7 is "funny" with usb audio devices, fixable tho'

If that works ok, re enable the card but you must tell the DAW to ONLY use one or t'other.

Err, why did you get the Fast track? I would have thought a wee mixer was all you needed? Did me greatly for 3 years, Behringer 802 into 2496, got an A&H zed10 now.Better.

Getting two audio interfaces to work together in one PC can be a challenge. The quick and easy way to fix it would be to remove the 2496 and use the outputs on the Fast Track.

While a challenge, it is possible to have a fast track ultra and 2496 work together to record simultaneously. I have my fast track ultra and 2496 playing quite nicely on a dual core computer running XP sp3. I use sonar 7 as my recording interface and regularly use the two at the same time to record Drums. I use 5 of the 6 audio inputs on the fast track for kick, snare, floor tom, tom, hi hats and the L/R RCA inputs off the 2496, first through a Behringer 1202 Mixer for the 2 overhead/cymbal mics.

The trick is to make sure the FTU is on before the PC is. I have noticed that if i have the fast track off, then turn it on when the pc is on already, I have sync issues where there is a small difference between the tracks recorded with the 2496 and the tracks from the FTU. I use the 2496 for my audio out and would like to say i have had that card for 10 years and love it! The only thing i havent gotten the hang of is using the spdif inputs.

Has anyone used two 2496's on the same pc and used each of their RCA in's simultaneously to record. I have considered getting another if this was possible.

I have recently fitted a second 2496 to a 3G P4 XP Home PC* and it it seems to be fine.
I don't see how you can use the S/PDIF inputs independantly and keep syncronization? My setup is mainly for shunting tracks to and from a 4track Teac O/R machine so I have S/PDIF looped for 4 channel op'.

What sort of problems have you had with S/PDIF? I had the P4 linked, in/out..out/in with a 2core AMD W7/64 PC (and will again) and we could shunt stuff back and forth quite easily. (note to self: Need to make an RCA phono patchbox!)

The Delta control panel is not the most intuitive beast! One trick. Faff about with the settings till you get it to do what you want then save the setup, naming it something like "S/DIFworked from DVD player". Save the everyday setup as "default".
*Naturally I would have prefered the two cards in the W7 machine but it only has one PCI slot!

I guess my issues with spdif have to do more with my lack of thorough understanding of digital audio than anything else, n this prolly isnt the right thread for this issue... I purchased a digital to analog converter box to try and get another 2 inputs using the spdif of either the 2496 or the FTU using the converter but havent had any luck... Im not really sure im setting it up right to use it.
