Big gronch on the upper bout through the clearcoat and took a chunk out of the wood. One Inch by 1/4 inch area affected. Luckily it did not snap the neck which I thnk happens when they fall. Well I told him it now has mojo. It fell off when he put it on the stand ( I wasn't there ;-) It was one of those low tripod stands - I find them too unsteady. I use a three guitar Hercules stand, although I'm sure those have falls too...

He also needs to install strap locks. The strap has come off the button a couple times. Luckily I had a grip on it.

Straplocks are mandatory!

Never had one fall out of a stand but dropped my 74 SG when it was about 2 years old and the neck cleanly seperated from the body.

Strap had come off the button on the back of the body and I took both hands off the guitar for a second.

I played a big dumb festival gig last saturday. Our bassist had a P-Bass on a stand fall off the stage 6 ft to the ground. It broke the concrete.

Mine fell off the stand and the neck did snap right off. I got depressed and put it in the attic, worse thing ever. A friend saw the pic and said it was totally fixable. It was. Took it too the shop, 80 bucks later it was fine. I hope this never happens to anyone. It sucks!

Dude! You played Big Dumb?!?!?!

Hey gerg is the 2012 album done yet? I haven't been keeping up.

this is why i've never owned a stand. lean it. leave it in the case.

OR pay attention to it and don't put in on a stand so poorly it falls off. They can fall leaning if you don't pay attention.
15,000 gigs and I've never had a git fall off a stand and only had one knocked off by a drunk once.

Just pay attention to wtf you're doing.

i was just kidding...i should really get a stand.

I had an old Kramer aluminium neck bass that a buddy knocked off the top of my amp. ( yes it was laying flat on the top, I was 17, didn't know any better) any way warped the neck. couldn't be fixed because it had no truss rod.

I've got a buddy with one of those kramer basses (with the forked headstock?) and it was a trooper. we toured with that for years and abused our gear in ways that make me cringe now.

I always put mine back in the case when breaks come round. That seems to be when your guard is down.

Having said that those neck breaks are good for the trade..:thumbs up:
