As an illustration: early battery powered devices could fry if you put the battery in the wrong way. Design improvements meant that (a) you couldn't put the battery in the wrong way, and (b) even if you did, circuitry would have built in safeguards against reversed polarity. But I have EV radio mikes where design has gone a step further, and you can put the battery in anyway you like and it doesn't matter.
It is good that Cubase has a red warning when locators are reversed, but it is better that Reaper doesn't care which way round they are.
Very true. I find it a shame that Steinberg can't fix the simplest of things. And this isn't even a software bug, it's poor design. Same as their Wavelab programs and the CD burning function. They use their own driver list for cd burners. If yours isn't in the list, then it's a nightmare to simply burn a cd.
Still, I started first with Cubase and find it difficult to switch. I did try Sonar for a while. It was nice, had some bug issues with my UAD stuff, got past it it and still had lock-ups, etc. So, I switched back to Cuabse because of stability and familiarity. I recently ordered the upgrade to the most recent version.
