Hey guys first time joiner, I'm looking for a mic for vocal. I just do this for fun, nothing major. People say sm57 are pretty good, but 100 dollar is I'm okay with spending, but I was hoping to spend 60 dollars or less really. Im not recording any instrument or have fancy studio set up. Im just gonna record using garage band and my macbook air, very very simple stuff and just Skype talking.

I think sm57 is too much of a hm...pro mic for me? I just need something simple but thats alright for vocal recordings. Can anybody help me ?

Agreed. Good call Jim.

I know you said you aren't looking for anything pro or anything, but what will you be plugging this mic into?
A little USB mic might be another option.

thanks for the reply's :) I ll be plugging this into microphone jack on my macbook air, or usb 2.0 slot, anything is good for me

Ah,ok.
The input jacks on modern apple products are usually (always?) line level.
That means it will not play well with a microphone.

I think USB microphones are your best bet with price and quality in mind.

Honestly? No. I don't have direct experience with USB mics in that price range.

I know audio technica and blue make USB mics in your range though and they are reputable manufacturers.

Maybe try youtube? You should be able to find reviews where the microphone is actually being demonstrated.

The Blue Yeti would be my choice. For the very important fact that it has a headphone out jack so as to be able to monitor your self while recording - but it cost a little bit more than $100.
Look on ebay for a used one! That should be within your budget.
