I listened to Whisper.. I like the track! It's a fun song.
I think your elec guitars are far too fizzy. It's hard to hear the note changes for me. Also, where's the kick man?! That needs to cut through a whole bunch more. Also, The reverb on the vox might be a bit too much. Sometimes it makes them sound a bit nasaly and they don't really feel like the same room as the other pieces.

Thanks man, that was my first dig recording, I got that kick sounding a whole lot more now. The guitars are fuzzy as hell had a real hard time uaing line 6 amps. cutting back on distortin much more now. thanks for the imput.

As for the guitar fizzyness, have your guitarist pick the tone he likes and then turn down the gain by like half of what he has. Live sounds just can't have as much gain as would be wanted for a live set. I learned that from a sticky in the noon section on here. Check it out. It's no joke!
Btw, do you have an updated version you can toss up? I'd love to hear the progress! :listeningmusic:

The guitar sounds like it went from an effects pedal direct to the recorder. You'd have been better off using the effects built into the Zoom as they7've been optimized for recording/use within the machine.
The songactually sounds pretty good EXCEPT for the guitars. Oh, the bass needs some evening out - a littlcompression and a lot more consisitency in the playing would do it.

Thanks man for your advise, the effects on the ZR24 is not really good to me. I drag all my tracks to my computer and mix and master in SonarX1. I would never use it as a final Mastering Machine.as for the consisitency in Bass.......for God Sakes man the kid is 16...https://homerecording.com/bbs/images/smilies/eatpopcorn.gif

Yeah 16, I know BUT that's what it takes to get it done & you can just automate the fader levels to cover it if you'd rather. I could've said,"Wow, 16, too cool for school" etc. I didn't figure you wanted a cop out. The Zoom inbuilt effects are, at least, optimized to use direct where as outboard pedals need to be dealt with (preferably by micing the amp it feeds into). They are also a lot better than those in the Disclab or several other standalone machines. Not the greatest though, I agree.

I would agree with everything everyone else has said. Everything sounds pretty good except the guitars. I have trouble getting a good distorted guitar sound for my tracks as well. Mics/DI nothing seems to get rid of that "tinny" sound. Surely this is obvious but turn up the bass and mids and tone down the treble when recording the guitar. Surely you've done that, but even with my cheap equipment my guitars aren't as tinny as yours.

ok their new song.. recorded on a Tascam DP 24 and mix and mastered on Sonarx1... what do you guys think??? Contrast - ReverbNation

I can't hear the kik. The drums are really box-y. Everything sounds really dis-jointed. There's a guitar that sounds like it was recorded in an airplane hangar, and the hi-hats sound like they're sitting right beside me on my desk.
