I will listen again, but for all those drums, I don't hear one tom hit. You could get some verrrry nice retro toms into the mix. Especially with the panning. The drum tracks are too much alike. I would almost think it was one track with a delay between channels. Take advantage of the space you have in the mix. You could even drop one channel of the drums during the guitar solos. I happen to love the snare sound. The lead vocal in the verses seems to be missing a bit of something in the eq. Can't quite nail what freqs. Just has too much of robot voice quality to it, if that makes any sense.

Wow, sounds great man! Good separation of all the elements, the mix is blending really well. That being said, I think your vocals can come out just a bit more, and I like the guitar riff in the chorus, but I'm not necessarily down with the tone of it...possibly a tighter distortion, or looser distortion...it's like right in the middle and it's kind of bugging me. Other than those two areas of possible improvement, sounds great!

Damn, you guys are good!

Guilty as charged. I really just got a kit last Summer and have slowly been trying to learn playing and recording drums. I've done maybe 4-5 tunes with me on drums and not one tom, ride or crash has been recorded yet! I don't even have the toms set up at the moment. I may get there eventually, but for now I've been purposefully trying to write stuff that doesn't require much in the way of drumming.

The lead vocal sound is something I wasn't too happy with. Definitely has the robot thing going (not the first time I've been compared to one!), and I can live with it, but...

As I mentioned earlier in the thread, sometimes you step up to the mic and your voice just sounds smooth and blends in perfectly and other times nothing seems to work. This was one of the latter times. Thanks for listening and for the good info.

See above re: the vocals. Something is odd there.

You know, that guitar part is one thing I am completely happy with. I know it is kind of a garbage tone, but that is exactly how I heard it when "arranging" this one in my head. You're right about it being in the middle somewhere. I just wanted angry and heavy sounding, without going full on metal or anything. There are 4 tracks there - 2 DI and two through the amp. Distorted guitar tones are a lot harder than clean ones for me anyway. I will continue to experiment.

Thanks for checking it out, and for the kind words and suggestions!
