I'm so mad can anyone help me please...? I've been trawling thru the net trying to solve what seems to me to be a basic request.

All i am trying to do is record myself playing my alesis DM10 with the EZdrummer sounds.

After a long while I've managed to sync or configure the e-kit to the corresponding kit voices in EZdrummer but I've spent days trying to work out how to record my efforts. I've tried it in Audacity...Live 8 and mix pad by NHC...all to no avail and I'm goin insane............i'm probably doing something basic wrong but what?

please help!!!!!

This may not help if you are using a PC, but I had an easy time doing this using Garageband. Just create a Software Instrument Track, select the input as the DM10, hit record and go. Of course you are only recording MIDI so if you want to switch kits that is easily done on playback.

Good point, but he may want to hear the sound that comes from the EZdrummer program while he's playing. In that case I don't think it would work.
Audacity doesn't have a MIDI function in it by the way. Audacity only records audio. MIDI send a signal via data, basically 0's and 1's.
Make sure that it is reading some type of input on the levels. Then go in and check if you have the MIDI settings in the preferences correct (of EZdrummer). So make sure you see some type of life (the levels moving) in the program. It could be that the MIDI cable is put in the wrong way into the computer.

Hope this helps, and keep on drumming! :)

What is the interface your using? Are you using a MIDI to USB cable? I've had some issues with those cables before.
But make sure your interface shows some type of reading (a little red dot some times goes bright on the interface when you hit the drum, depends on the interface though) on it as well.

Yes I am trying to record the voices of ezdrummer and I'm using the usb cable that came with the kit. I'm on a PC and because of latency I am using something called ASIO4ALL v2 I am so confused anout all the settings so maybe this could be the problem??

Hey I've worked it all out.....yippie lol and it sounds amazing wiv EZdrmr - I fired up Live 8 deleted the audio1 and midi3 tracks - dragged EZDr into midi2 track set the midi in port to usb audio device, armed midi2 and pressed record!!! BINGO haha - at the end I coverted the midi file to a WAV file during the exporting process then imported the WAV file into audacity mixed it wiv the backing track mp3 tweaked the volumes and saved it as another WAV file which i then converted externally wiv NCH file converter into MP3....hey presto an amazing drum cover.......thanks everyone for the help tho........
