Hi,
I currently only have one Effects unit in my studio, an Alesis Wedge. I've been satisfied with it so far but I'm now thinking of upgrading. For a start, I need more than one effects unit as I quite often want to use multiple effects at once. I only have two post fade AUX sends on my desk (as far as I know, pre fade are useless for effects, correct me if I'm wrong). I've been looking at the Lexicon MX200 and it seems to be a good option. You can route the signals so that it functions as two separate stereo effects units with the output summed together (my desk only has one return so this is a big advantage.

Basically what i want to know is, will the Lexicon give me significantly better reverb and effects than the Wedge?

Thanks
James

Pre fader sends will work just fine for effects. You can also route the effects back into mixer channels instead of the return. Doing that actually gives you more control by allowing you to EQ the effects and route one effect into the other if desired. As for the Lexicon being "better" you will have to decide that for yourself.

The thing with the pre fader send in that if I fade the track, the effect will continue to sound. Or is there a way around this?

True. Though still workable if the track's fairly constant. Even intentional if it's a fade into distance effect. But yeah, post is the way to go usually.
