Are Mashall Amps the best amps ever created?

Hey, you guys missed it - the OP said 'MASHALL" amps - must be some Chinese knockoffs! ;)

Yup, it's all true.

Mashalls are the best amps ever.
And Les Pauls are the best guitars ever.
And Bob Dylan is the best songwriter ever.
And Beck is better than Clapton or Page.
And Mesas are the best amps ever.

I don't know if i would say the best but definitely a name you could trust.

If you buy one on layby or credit you'll need the Marshall Plan.
The story can be summarized thus:
Marshall Valve amps, (particularly those build before 1988), do the Marshall Tube Amp sound better than any other amp.
Marshall amps are NOT Fender, Vox, Laney, Mesa or Behringer Amps. If you buy a Marshall valve amp for anything other than loud music you'll have made something of a wrong turn error in your research and selection.
Some people don't like Marshall amps: but then some people don't like Vegemite.
Some people do like Marshall amps: but then again some people do like Vegemite.
It's a matter of...

I really, really liked my HIWATT amp but I kinda grew out of it.

Why yes it is. The biggest mistake I ever made was trading my JCM 800 50 watt 2x12 combo + 4-12 cab for a camaro.

I bet that amp is out living the camaro as we speak.

Why yes it is! Had the Camaro for about a month and wrapped it around a tree :(

I paid 600 for the combo and 200 for the cab. What's it worth now?

I'd love to replace it....with another 800, a plexi? I can get just about what ever I want, I have a decent shitty job$$$

At the time I was into thrash, now I'm more into classic rock. 800 or plexi?

Is it a DSL fizzbox? :D

Hahaha

I think most people just try to get certain tones from amps that they aren't capable of. A JCM's never going to sound like a Plexi, a Fender's never going to get the crunch from a marshall, etc, etc, etc.

I got my sound dialed in though, has something to do with the tubes and speakers as well. Greenbacks=awesome!!!

I got a vintage 30 in mine, I like the clean but the OD is still just way too fizzy.

I'd like to put in an honourable mention for a Hiwatt DR 504 or DR 103. Actually, the Canadian version of the DR 504 (called the DR 505) is even better. More beef, same clarity, a little more "Townsend" breakup.

Suds . . .
