Reaper Stock Plugins

I'm new to reaper, but as far as I see its great. The thing is yesterday i was exploring the program and after setting this and that, I decided to try the stocks plugins, i had some tracks and added Cockos Reverb, sounded awful. Is this a rule for reaper plugins?

Just to be clear this is not a big issue for me, as I would still use reaper and would just get some of the good free plugins out there to work, but i just need to know.

I've never used the Cockos reverb, so I don't know how it sounds. However, I've used a number of the other Cocokoes plugins, and have not found them to be inadequate.

Have you downloaded sound files for the Reverb? You need to download the various 'room' impulse files (it's all in the manual).

Yup, this^^^^^^^^

Reaverb + impulse files = golden.

The internet is full of reverb impulse files.

I don't use many of the stock Reaper plugs. Pretty much only the ReaEQ, Reagate, and Reaverb with impulse files.

I use Reaverbate (sp?) a lot. I think it's a stripped down version of Reaverb, so it runs a lot faster. It doesn't have as much control, and probably sounds even worse, but it's a quick, simple reverb for when you're more concerned about processor cycles.

I also use ReaEQ, ReaComp, and Reagate.
