It is an endless battle. I have gone so far in the past as to add a second pa just for drums in a 30'X30' rehearsal space so the kick could be heard over the guitar players full stack. Friggen ridiculous. My ears are paying the price now.:(

I'm not taking it personally. I'm so glad I came here to learn about all of this. I like I said in an earlier post, my bandmates are good musicians and great guys, but when it comes to the tech stuff, they don't have near the patience I do to work out the details.
We'll see how it goes tomorrow and I'll report back.

you'll get it I'm sure.
When you don't gig all the time and rehearsal is one of your main times to get together (right now) .... it's pretty hard to show restraint with your amp. You've got this killer amp you love and you want to use it dammit!
:D

So it's understandable.

not if you know what your music is supposed to sound like

Yeah you're right but you can't trust your ears after a few songs during rehersal. I've enforced the rule that no one in the band is allowed to touch their volume knob after we start the set list. Told them the amp volume hasn't changed your ears are just starting to fatigue. We would start out at maybe 10' o clock and by the end of the practice both amps would be at about 2 to 3 o clock.

Had practice today. After some adjusting, we were able to have everyone be heard. We talked it over and are going to try to get some better quality high and mid range speakers. What we have is not going to cut it. We will make do for now. We actually got quite a bit done after we downshifted the volume. I'll probably post with more questions about the same area on down the road. Thanx again for everyone's help!!!!!!!!!!!

Let's hope they don't get the idea to start with their instrument volumes down so they can turn up without going to their amps. Whoops! I probably shouldn't have said that. Let's hope they don't read this thread.
