What external Hard drive does a person want to use when dumping your audio from a laptop during recording?

I was originally wanting to go with a Lacie Thunderbolt (Light Peak) 7200 rpm external drive, but it doesn't look like it is going to happen. Lacie said their Thunderbolt external desktop/portable drives would be out this summer, but it is about 2 weeks before summer is officially over and I just don't see it happening.

Out of Firewire, usb 2.0, and eSata, which connection is better to use to shoot audio data from? I am mainly looking at the diff between eSata and Firewire because a firewire is supposed to be better since the connection is peer to peer between the computer and hd vs usb 2.0 is a master slave relationship. I don't know about eSata so much. It's spec'd faster than firewire and usb 2.0, but is the data transferred similar to firewire or usb 2.0?

USB 3.0 is becoming pretty popular. USB 3.0 is faster than firewire by far, I would look into that. Or even look into an internal hard-drive if you are an experienced techy.

Macbook Pro has;
one Thunderbolt port, remembering t-bolts can be daisy chained
one FW800-also can be daisy chained, but if one fw connection is fw400, then the whole chain is too.
two usb 2.0- No 3.0
one SDXC slot OR expresscard 34 slot where an eSata external drive could be connected, depending on 15" vs 17".
