What company(ies) have the best track record for producing good driver software to run their hardware products??

I was looking strongly at MOTU or even Focusrite saffire DSP stuff, but after looking through some manuals for intuitive design I like Apogee (one/duet) or Echo Audiofire flow. The Motu and focusrite both have good ideas, but it does not look as easy to use as the Apogee or Echo Audio interfaces.

Thoughts, info etc, Thanks

From what I can gather, RME gear is famous for driver stability/simplicity. Sound Devices, too.

Tascam has always treated me well. Simple stuff, always works.

I've often heard that, which is what led me to buy a Tascam interface....but something about my win7/64 didn't jive. Sure, I had the latest driver DL from Tascam, but still the glitches. I will say that it probably works beautifully with 32, or maybe it works with everyone else but ME...but it didn't work right....and I'm only concerned about what works in my house.

RME designed the babyface (eg) to be 64bit compatible because it was made post 64bit. That was ground up coding..not an add on code or an update, but a "from scratch" driver made to work with 64bit systems. I respect that. RME have had a long track record of driver stability with PC's AND Mac's. The OP wanted to know who was known for driver stability and I can think of no other company more worthy of that title than RME.

Sorry....rant....just bought a babyface. Kinda psyched. ;-)

Ahh ok. Yeah, I'm still running 64 bit Vista so I can't be of much help ;)

That makes since. I imagine every product from Tascam from this point forward will be 7/64 compatible. I know some people think 7 is just like Vista, but the MDAC changes in the kernal make it unique. It requires a whole new driver.
