plenty of PC

This is a problem that I thought had gone away on it;s own, but has returned.
I am able to use the mixer with no issues to record. So far I've recorded up to nine seperate tracks at once. My problem is that when I go to playback it either works of doesn't. Sometimes I will get playback through the mixer just fine for 1,2,3,4,5, minutes and the it will just stop. The audio is still going in the PC, but it is not coming through the mixer. I then either have to switch from asio to wave and then playback through my crappy pc speakers, or close everything, shut down PC, turn off mixer, turn mixer back on, turn pc back on and then that only takes care of it sometimes.
ANY IDEAS???
do i have a driver problem? is it the mixer? is it my PC?
please offer any suggestions.

My gut feeling is a driver issue, since a reboot will sometimes resolve it...
Have you checked with Alesis support folks on this?

Also, you say 'plenty of PC' ... Could this be a 64 bit system that some of the components in use aren't ready to play nicely with yet?

Just a couple of thoughts...

Good luck

:)

It is a 32 bit system. It has vista home premium, but I have stripped it down a set it for best performance, at least I think I do. I'll send alesis an email and see what they think.
THANX for the help.

Good luck with that - Alesis takes for ever to respond to emails - i emailed them and 4 weeks later they replied saying they were real busy and would get to it as soon as they could :p

It sounds like a driver issue. - But you should post your specs.

Have you downloaded the newest driver from the Alesis website?

I looked at the alesis site and I'm pretty sure that I have the most current drivers. I uninstalled and re-installed and things are working ok now, although I've done this before and the same problem arose after a couple of weeks. There is a download on the alesis site for a driver/firmware update. I could not get it to work, plus the date it was posted was over a year earlier than the driver that I downloaded, I've posted my PC specs. I keep an eye on things and try and contact alesis, but if anyone else has any input please let me know.
Thanx.
