I wasn't sure where to put this but basically I would like to record video footage of me playing some songs to upload onto youtube, however the only video recording device I have is my digital camera and the microphone on it to say the least, is not so good...

I have Pro tools and have access to numerous decent sounding microphones, but I have not as yet used pro tools for any form of video editing. My question is can I record the sound through pro tools using my mics, whilst at the same time using my digital camera capture the video and then somehow scrub the audio from the camera footage (with the poor audio quality) to then sync the video with the sound recorded from pro tools to get a new decent quality sounding video ready to upload onto youtube?

Cheers in advance for any help given :) I would really like to know how to do this.

As long as the converters' clocks are reasonably close you should be able to to manually sync up the audio and video. I only do audio in PT so I couldn't tell you the specifics of how to do it, but I've done it in Sony Vegas.

Yeah, that should be no problem at all. It's best if you have some type of single loud transient at the beginning of each recording (such as a clap from a film slate), but it's okay if you don't. In the case that you don't have a transient to sync with, you can align the audio and video by using your ears - just set the camera audio and the PT audio at 50% each in the video editor and then move around the PT audio until it is perfectly in sync with the camera audio.

Yep, easiest thing in the world... just clap your hands right before you're ready to begin filming/recording. :)
