Young punk #1 reporting for duty, SIR!
Well my first computer I used for recording was this-- HP Pavilion dv6 and dv6t series | HP® Official Store (although it was the 2009 model)
It was a solid little thing...I still use it today!
First interface was a Tascam 1641
First mics were MXL v67g, sm57, and CAD 7-piece drum mic kit
And I used the Cubase LE that came with my Tascam
First monitors were KRK Rokit 6's
Annnnd I think that's pretty much it! Good luck in your search for other young punks!

oh man arca... never had an Atari but i sure remember em. and i had the tape drive for the C64. great stuff. LOAD "WINTERGAMES",1,1 - PRESS PLAY ON TAPE. and then you'd go off into the other room and watch a TV show while your game loaded. i made a BASIC casino-games type thing and submitted it to Compute!'s Gazette. never got accepted or anything. but my folks were sure impressed. they told all their friends "oh Erik's so talented with computers! he's going to be a millionaire!". heh heh. then i discovered weed.

LMAO - yeah I had a bit of a computer hiatus from high school to my early twenties
Lucky for me the internet came out so I didn't have to be a pauper my whole life

I still have my Atari/Cubase rig from the late '80s (just before you young punks were born )...it still works fine and it's even hooked into my studio rig (tied to my tape deck and to my DAW computer via MTC/SMPTE)...but I rarely fire it up anymore.
Used mainly when I was into MIDI sequencing, which was back in the mid-'90s. After that, I used it occasionally to set up a "scratch sequence" and dump it to my tape deck (very easy thanks to the MTC/SMPTE hook-up)...but now I don't even bother with that.
About 10 years ago, I thought I would want to have it around for the "scratch sequence" purpose...so I bought a backup unit on eBay, so I actually have two Atari rigs.
Also have the Steinberg/Cubase MIDEX box and two sets of "keys" for Cubase.
I thought about selling it all off a couple of times...but the going prices on eBay are so low, I figured I would keep it for it's "museum" value.
