Haha thanks, I had a feeling the laptop might not be up to it, but there is a possibility that I might be getting a new laptop fairly soon, so if this laptop really won't work, then I will be getting a new one at some point anyway (I hope).

Well if you strip it down and use it for ONLY recording it might be up to par.

Hmmmm, as one of my questions was, does it matter if it's a bad laptop if it is the mixer (incl. Interface) that processes the sound? The laptop would just have to write it down on a stereo track? I thought it was only multitrack recording which needed an amazing computer

That is correct but once you start to ad plug ins your only asking for trouble.

what are plugins? are they effects? will they be already there in Cubase LE (comes free with the mixer)

Yes but they are installed in you computer and it's when you start to use a few per channel that your cpu is at a max.

How many tracks am I likely to use if the mixer only records onto one stereo track? and how many effects, all I can really add once it's in a stereo track is compression and reverb, right?

Okay so I'm gunna assume that the laptop part is just about okay, and that if It doesn't work too well once I have it, I will just have to wait until I get a new laptop!

There are still lots of questions there I still need answers to though, so if anyone knows any of the answers, please reply!
