Hi guys, Andy here from Music Junkie, a shop in Leicester. Just wanted to say hi, I've been setting up my home recording set up and thought this would be the right website to sign up with haha. Hope everyones good, hope to speak to you soon :)

We got everything you want and we got funny names...

Best thing is that the new guy has to provide the refreshments!

oooooooooooooooooooooooooo I like me some good cheese!

But really Brits pronounce some things pretty crazy, like that river - who the hell is this Tim guy anyway and how did he get a river?

Why would you spell Tims as T-H-A-M-E-S ? that looks like you should pronounce it like James not Tim - maybe you should have given James the River -
but then you probably would have called it The River Jims...

Man I crack myself up :laughings::laughings::laughings::D

Not sure what language you're speaking there arcadeko, but THAMES is pronounced TEMS not TIMS over here in one of the motherland's offshoots, and I'm pretty sure it's that way in England too...

Then again, your country, like most, has lots of glorious inconsistencies in pronounciation.... like Notre Dame = noter dame, instead of not-re darm, it being French and all... and while I understand the general dislike of things French in the US, you do say herb as erb, instead of herb with a hard h like the rest of the world... and that's a French pronounciation if I've ever heard one..

And don't start me on bouy = boo-ee.... ("boy") and tourniquet = torniket... (tornikay)...

Damn Yankees.... :laughings:

Hi guys, Andy here from Music Junkie, a shop in Leicester. :)

I was in Leicester in 2007, stayed at a B&B called "Glenfield Lodge" in Glenfield Rd. We were doing a tour of the UK and were guest presenters on Harborough FM 102.3 with Terry Hawke and could not find any where to stay in Market Harborough as it was all booked, out so stayed in Leicester. I actually bought a small bass amp at one of those music chain stores (I think they have closed down now) to use on the tour. Unfortunately we did not have any gigs in Leicester.

Had a funny moment in a bar the first night in: We had flown form Australia to London via Bruni and Dubai (22hours + delays) arrived at Heathrow at 10am, driven to Leicester direct and booked into the B&B. Had a shower and went to the pub (as you do) all with no sleep since leaving Australia. Talking to the bar maid she remarked on how tied I looked, I told her we had flown in that morning and driven from London, she said, "You drove all the way from London?" I relied, "It's only 3 to 4 hours drive," her replay was, "yes, But why come to Leicester?".

We had a good look around for a couple of days and it's not a bad place at all.

Cheers
Alan.

Reading your post has shown me that I have always said "No-truh Dame" and have never even noticed how people say Noter Dame! :D

Also I've now realized that I say "Tems" and "Tims" the exact same way! :laughings:
