I have been given the assignment of finding a "boom filter," It is supposed to allow you to record vocals without having to be in a booth. does this exists? Am I even asking the right question? I feel like I am on a golden goose chase!

Do you mean pop filter? I've never heard of a boom filter before. Even Googled it, and results were so scarce that this thread was the 3rd result :laughings:

And what do you mean "given the assignment of finding..."? Is it for a class or something?

Boom filter

I think it is called a pop filter. Is itan apparatus that huoses itself around the mike?

These guys are probably right. But, it has nothing to do with "allowing you to record vocals without having to be in a booth". You usually shouldn't be recording in a "booth" anyway.

Find em a few feet of shore line to tie it all up and you're golden.....:D

You don't think he's talking about one of those crazy box-like things you put around mics do you??

Anyone know what I'm talking about? We usually get a thread every so often about them.

From your description of wanting to record clean vocals without a booth, I wonder if you're talking about something like the SE "REFLEXION" FILTER.

I've used one several times and they work amazingly well...and the support rig could, I suppose, be described as a "boom".
