Motown, get your Detroit jukebox Jheri curl ass in this chicken shit chop-chop! ASAFP! :)

Lol. Not me.

Have you noticed though that Miro is damn near exactly like Ghost? The're both pretty goofy and docile until you target them, and then they become full-bore retarded. :D

Yeah, you were right earlier...we are not that different you and I, Greg.
You can't seem to let go of something either once you get going...just like your sidekick, kc.
I guess we all have some of that same recessive retard gene. :D

So I notice you now hail from Van Nuys, CA.
Did you overstay your welcome in Texas or is there a bench warrant out on you for excessive bad behavior? ;)

I have houses in each state. My business has me moving around occasionally.

As for letting go, I never let go. I outlast literally everyone. I'm like a pit-bull locked on to a black mailman. Don't take it personally. :D

lol @ sidekick...are you having a meltdown miro?

go and relax..its you that cant let go of just about anything and have no idea what banter is...make a cup o tea and have a cucumber sandwich with the crusts cut off...that always works for me

and never, no never go full retard again!

I wouldn't expect anything less...same goes here. :)

Don't fret now...being a "sidekick" isn't necessarily diminutive.
Was Lou Costello any less important being Bud Abbot's sidekick?
Was Tonto living in the Lone Ranger's shadow or did he always ride alongside him?
Could Dr. Frankenstein get by without Igor?

Without sidekicks...where would they all be???
So don't go turning into one of them "crying" clowns on me.
Be a happy sidekick! ;)

ha ha...your patter is pretty poor...go make some children cry miro lol

Okay, let's get back into the sim discussion (that's an order!)

One dude brought up TH1 one in another thread about sims, has anyone tried TH1 yet? After this other member talked up TH1 I decided to try it and it is definitely different then the three other sims I have tried (Amplitube, Guitar Rig, and that free sim that models the JC900 or whatever it's called).

I haven't owned an amp for about ten years (it's been a pretty nasty decade for me). The last amp I owned was a Fender Blues Junior, and for the price and size it was pretty nice. Someone at Guitar Center recently mentioned that the reverb sucked on the Blues Junior but it's been so long since I've played on one that I can't really remember how the verb sounded. Fender just put out a Blues Junior III and supposedly the reverb is sweet compared to the older versions. Anyway I'm digressing here.

Back to Overloud's TH1.

It has a very thick sound and I don't think or feel digital at all when I'm jamming out on it. The interface is okay, you get the usual tools; you can move mics around select different cabs and heads, you have the choice of selecting various effects, etc. The program isn't overloaded with too many amps and effects so you don't feel overwhelmed or have a hard time deciding what to go with when you want to jam.

I hope some people here give TH1 a try, I'd like to hear what you guys think about it? I'm downloading Revalver MKII as I speak. Greg and few others gave it high marks so I decided to try it out. I don't think any one amp sim does everything perfectly or even half of everything perfectly, hence the need (depending on what you like and what you're doing) to own more then one amp simulator.

At the risk of sounding heretical, getting the best sound as conveniently as possible is not my #1 priority. If it were, I'd be into loops.

I don't use amp sims because I don't think they help me become a better engineer. With the equipment I have, the only reason I can't get a great mic'ed amp sound is my own shortcomings as an engineer, which I'd like to correct.

Here's what I have to record with:
Mesa Boogie DC-2
Music Man early 80s Sixty Five head w 1 12" cab
Shure Sm57s and Audix i5s
Neumann U-89
Radial Reamp
Demeter DI/preamp
Seventh Circle Audio Neve and API clones

I can borrow an API 512 pre and a vintage Vox AC-30 from my next door neighbor, if needed and I can borrow my guitar player's Bogner Shiva.

I also have an acoustically treated room (16' x 23' by 14' w cathedral ceilings).

If my mic'ed amps sound bad, that's on me.

So most people here are saying that amp sims are ok if you have a good one but no one really mentioned which are the good ones. My buddy told me that Waves Gtr is pretty cheap now so I've been looking into it and seems cool. I know waves are good but 100 bucks seems really cheap. Any of you tried it? I'm curious to know your opinions if it sounds like the crappy pod.
I've never had any luck with the Waves. It has a weird high end thing going on to my ears. I've had better luck with gtr rig and amplitude.

the had a waves freebie for a while, well for one year it was free...not so sure if they still do it

TH-1 sounds about as good as it gets, but I use a v-amp pro and a valvetronix..they cover what little guitar I record
