Rock/Screamo track: would really appreciate some feedback!

I spent a couple of days straight re-mixing this thing, and I think I did a lot of really good things. Much less of that screechy, low-passed sound, firmer low-end, and volume automation galore. Please do me a favor and check this out/give me some feedback, I'd really appreciate it! I think this is the best thing I've done thus-far, and I need to know if it translates everywhere so I can apply the settings to the rest of the album. (Original Text: I tracked & am mixing this track: no real need for critique on the quality of the material/arrangement choices (although feel free to do so if so inclined, of course). Been working on this in some fashion for months, and am getting to the final stages and thus could use some input! I put it through a limiter just to raise the levels a bit, but it's not taking more than a db off of the bigger hits. The 2-bus compressor, however, is doing quite a bit of work!

Tracked through modest home studio gear (002/DigiMax LT, mostly cheap mics, etc.) in the band's practice space. Thanks for your time!

Sounds nice, Kinda felt like it needed a little more bass guitar or something, but it was awesome, nice job

Do you have more? Now I want to listen to other songs if you have them

I agree with the comment out the bass guit coming up some--but damn, this sounds good! Very cohesive and balanced. Love the guitar sounds, and just as big and heavy as the mix is--the vox are sitting just right (and are performed well too!).

You're definitely on the right track.
 
I really dig the vocal/backup tone & levels. The singer can sing... awesome!

A couple of questions for you: How did you record the guitars and what were the rigs? Were the drums, more specifically the kick, just mic'd or did you use any replacers i.e. drumagog?
 
@ChickenStomp - I guess there's no way to stop ya! Just put in the band name (Lost In Prague) so you can look 'em up when all is done, if you'd like.

@Dogmatic - Guitars were various ESP LTD somethingorother's, and an '86 (or so) Les Paul, through a Peavey Triple XXX and a Framus Dragon for the rhythm, and a JCM900 & Triple Rec for leads/overdubs. The kick was almost completely replaced with a kick from a Circa Survive record, and the snare was beefed up with a sample as well. The remix I just did has a snare courtesy of Superior Drummer.

Mastering this will be super easy IMHO - the mix is great! Love the various guitar textures, the arrangement is great. Sounds pro to me.
 
Sounds really awesome dude. This is the kind of sound I would like to get from the band I will be recording soon. I did notice some pumping on the compressor, so maybe knock the threshold back a tiny bit.
 
Cool song, sounds kinda like Underoath. I'd like to hear a little more bass, the guitars sound great, I'd also bring the drums up a bit. good song, and everything sounds like it was captured well, just a couple of mixing issues! good job.
 
I came to in interesting and somewhat shitty discovery yesterday: my KRK RP5's drop out pretty severely after 8-10k or so. This was leading me to pretty much ignore the vital 10-20k range, which is why my mixes have been congested towards the high-mids, leading to a huge apparent fidelity loss. Fortunately, I found my old pair of MDR-V6's (I had been using DT-770's, which have a smooth, unrevealing high-end) which have a much more pronounced and detailed treble response (although somewhat smeary & distorted, it's better than nothing).

Point being, I'll be remixing this stuff shortly & will post my results. Thank you for your responses!

I think this is pretty good overall. Drums are getting a little buried, which will probably get worse when you smash it in mastering. Vocals and guitars sound great.
 
Sounds awesome. Maybe a little thin. And drums a little quiet for my taste. But I've always been very impressed with your stuff. Ever since I heard that FLL track you did a few years, maybe, ago. I love that band.

wow..im surprised at what i was listening to...bit papa roach or sumthin but sounded great..

got nothing on the mix...maybe a bit more bass????
